MSI GTX 780 Ti Gaming! Even more cooling power to push the Ti Limits!

feature

MSI GeForce GTX 780 Ti Gaming MSI has always entered the graphics game with some excellent twin Frozr based models and even a lightning here and there to really spice it up! If I had to sum up MSI’s specialty it would be making graphics models with a better cooling solution and also boosting the VRM a tick to ensure it can withstand loading if they find a weakness in the stock design. However in the case of the 780 Ti we know that the reference model was obscenely capable with massive overclocking potential with its stock components, well apparently MSI noticed that as well and with that they passed us one of their GTX 780 Ti Gaming model cards which is based on the reference PCB. The Card is not completely stock though as it employs a Twin Frozr IV cooler to ensure that the new GPU boost algorithm ... Read More »

AMD releases AMD Catalyst™ 13.12 for Windows (WHQL) and Linux

AMD has released a new version of their Catalyst drivers for Windows (WHQL) and Linux.  In addition to adding official support for the R9270-290 and R7240-260 cards it also improves Crossfire-scaling for some cards and more importantly adds support for Crossfire frame pacing. The idea with frame pacing is to make sure that playback is even and regular when using two cards in Crossfire. AMD cards have traditionally had issues where running in games have caused some micro stuttering when frames have not been displayed evenly from the two cards. Currently the frame pacing is only supported up to 2560×1600 in a single display but support for more displays and 4K resolution is coming. As always get the drivers from http://game.amd.com.   FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS OF AMD CATALYST™ 13.12 Support for the following new products: AMD Radeon™ R9 290, 280, and 270 Series AMD Radeon™ R7 260, 250, and 240 Series Improved AMD ... OCZ Technology Launches New Enterprise-Class Intrepid 3000 Series SSDs

OCZ_Intrepid_3000

OCZ has had some bad news lately with the filing for bankruptcy but the Toshiba buyout may helped the company coming back even stronger. The bad news does not prevent the company from releasing a new product. Today, OCZ has released a new Intrepid 3000 Series enterprises SSD. The Intrepid 3000 uses OCZ Everest controller based on Marvell 88SS9187 controller (same as in Vertex 4) paired with OCZ’s own proprietary firmware. The drive has a rated 520 MB/s for sequential read (128K blocks), 470 MB/s sequential write (128K blocks), 91,000 IOPS random read and 40,000 IOPS random writes. The number reported here may seemed a bit lower than what we used to but it is based on the steady state which the drive is writing, erasing and re-writing data repeatedly over the full capacity of the rive. So these are the worst case scenario number. For the enterprise market, data ... Read More »

Gigabyte Aivia Osmium Cherry Brown Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (GK-OSMIUM BRN)

Gigabyte_Osmium

Gamers love their mechanical keyboards and have their own preferred switch. The distinctive clicky feel from a mechanical keyboard offers gamers superior feedback where very little actuation force is needed to register the key is ideal for the repeated action and the multiple press in games. In many FPS shooter games, that milliseconds of response time can be a matter of life and death. So gamers swear by their mechanical keyboard.     When Gigabyte first launched the Aivia Osmium keyboard, it came with the Cherry Red MX switch that we had reviewed a while back. While the linear feedback from the Red switch offers smooth feedback that is ideal for gaming, it may not be the best if you use the PC for more than just repeated tapping action in games. If you also use PC for typing, the Cherry Red MX maybe too sensitive. Or if you are ... Read More »

featured

The market for mechanical gaming keyboard has exploded the last few years. More and more companies have started to offer these types of keyboard and today we look at the first mechanical keyboard from the company Func, the KB-460. This is a cheap keyboard using the Cherry MX Red micro switches which also comes with back lighting and macro support.  A little background about Func The company Func was found back in 1999 in California. One of its earlier sucessfull products was the sUrface 1030 mouse mat. After 2005 the company did not release any new products but 2012 it was revived again, now with Swedish owners. Toshiba Acquires OCZ SSD Business for 35 Million

OCZ_Vertex_150

Following the OCZ’s filing for bankruptcy, OCZ and Toshiba have reached agreement where Toshiba will buy OCZ assets for 35 million dollars. Under the agreement, Toshiba will “acquire OCZ’s client and enterprise solid state drive business,” where Toshiba will acquire “OCZ’s proprietary controllers, firmware and software, as well as the teams responsible for bringing these solutions to market, in addition to OCZ’s established brand and sales channels.” It is unknown what will happen to other OCZ products such as power supply.  Toshiba will provide OCZ with DIP (Debtor-in-Possession) financing during the transition period which allows OCZ to continue to operate as normally. Biostar Z87X 3D Motherboard Review

Feature

Introduction – Biostar Z87X 3D Motherboard Biostar is one of those names you hear about but not as common as the “bigger” players in the component game but regardless of this they have a decent share in the more cost conscious market which is actually a very large segment to live in. Also on previous mainstream enthusiasts boards I have been rather impressed with the performance/price ratio the Biostar boards are able to pull in comparison to some of the higher priced competitors. Today we have Biostar’s top Z87 model which integrates their HiFi audio solution for a great audio experience should you use this for a multimedia or gaming board this one should be up for the task. The one thing that did surprise me is the lack of SLI support which means your talking single Nvidia card or crossfire depending upon your needs, but from what i have ... Read More »
