OCZ Launches Vertex 460

OCZ_Vertex-460

OCZ launched the first SSD drive after it has been acquired by Toshiba. Today’s launch of the Vertex 460 is the successor to the last year’s Vertex 450. The Vertex 460 uses the same Barefoot 3 M10 controller as the Vertex 450 but it now swapped out the 20nm NAND for the Toshiba 19nm MLC NAND. With rated sequential read of 545 MB/s, sequential write of 525 MB/s, 4K random read of 95,000 IOPS, and 4K random write of 90,000 IOPS, the drive gets a slight bump in the performance. It also has a rated sustained 4K random write of up to 23,000 IOPS.  The Vertex 460 will be available in capacity of 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB. It will come in the ultra-slim 7mm height for ultrabook and will carry 3 year warranty.  Related posts: OCZ Vertex 3.20 – Vertex 3 updated to 20nm   Today we get a chance ... Read More »

Toshiba Finalized Acquisition of OCZ and Launches OCZ Storage Solutions

OCZ_Intrepid_3000

Toshiba has finalized the purchase of substantially all assets of OCZ Technology Group. The complete acquisition created a new subsidiary brand called OCZ Storage Solutions. OCZ will continue to operate independently which it will focus on providing SSD for enterprise and client market. With Toshiba having its own NAND technology, we can be certain that OCZ will continue to deliver the same SSD products in various form factors that includes SATA, PCIe, SAS using the in-house Indilinx controller. However, future drives probably will leverage more on the Toshiba NAND as oppose to the Intel/Micron NANDs.  Related posts: Seagate Wireless Plus External Storage Back in January 2012 we reviewed the Seagate GoFlex Satellite, a 500 GB external hard... AMD Kaveri Delivers 20% Performance Improvement

AMD_Logo

During the CES 2014, AMD has officially released the next generation APU, the A10-7000 Series APU codenamed “Kaveri”. We have already know quite a lot about the Kaveri and cannot wait to get our hand at one so we can test it out.  The Streamroller CPU core is an improved version of the Piledriver CPU core found in the Richland. Architecturally, there is not much difference between the two cores except that the Streamroller has a better performance and lower power consumption. The GPU, on the other hand, has a much bigger improvement as it features AMD Graphic Core Next (GCN) architecture that is the same as those found in the current generation of the AMD R7 series Radeon GPU. The GPU shares many of the same technology as the desktop GPU, including TrueAudio, DirectX 11.2, Mantle, PCI Express 3.0 support, and others. Two key innovations with the latest generation ...
