View Full Version : Is StarCraft 2 currently in the works?

IGN had a very exciting interview with Blizzard's Chief Operating Officer Paul Sams in which he said a new big title is going to be revealed pretty soon by Blizzard.
He, of course, did not say the name of the title, but he sure gave some huge hints indicating this may be Starcraft 2!!!
StarCraft is my absolutely favorite game of all time
As you probably already know, there is no doubt that we will continue the StarCraft and Diablo franchise, and trust me, I will be the happiest person in the world when we announce StarCraft 2.
If so, those are some pretty exciting news, don't you think ???
More about that here (http://pc.ign.com/articles/727/727892p1.html)

Cool! I've admittedly never played the original Starcraft, but if Starcraft 2 looks good I'll be giving it a try... :)

Its one of the only games I can play with any skill (im like a good noob), lol.
The origional version was amazing as it played on practically any computer, even a Pent1 200mhz. it never needed a crazy video card and was so fun to play online. You can make up your own games, I hope if there is a new one it is as user friendly..
lol, I wore out my disks a bunch of times, I just bought a War Chest for $8 at Amazon (origional game, add on game and 2 books with techniques and tips)
Now that would be a fun game for us to play...
Kougar, you never played Starcraft ???
Wow, that's a real classic, you must try it!
Perfect RTS even in today's terms...
About your idea, markkleb, I already suggested playing it over here.
I would be glad if we could meet online for a SC game, that would be cool!

Now this is great news if it is indeed so.. I'm in need of a new RTS play and can only handle so much with the standard forms that have been around for the past few years. I think I'll have to reinstall and give it a go again sometime.
im down on some SC games, maybe some 2x2's and some free-for-alls....
maybe i should start practicing ;)
I want a new RTS title to work on.
I thought Age of Empires 3 was going to be great, I loved the first 2.
I did not find it all that good. Viewing and camera angles were an unnessasary add on and actually took away from the gameplay, IMO.
Maby I just wanted a add on pack for AOE 2, with a few tweeks.
So ya I will probably give Starcraft 2 a try.

After the RTS-drought of the past few years, I'd really aprreciate a decent game like SC2.
AOE3 was a disappointment for me as well (boring gameplay, so-so graphics, no redeeming values), the C&C series has gone downhill (in no small part thanks to EA), and most other games were quite mediocre.
IMO, Exigo and Warcraft 3 were the last really good RTS games.

we should have a Bjorn3D Starcraft clan, lol..

I stopped playing Blizzard RTS games online after I realized that even though I'm not a bad player, almost every kid who plays all day long (a large portion of Battle.net's population) can open up a 44 gallon industrial grade can of whoop-ass on me with their blindfold on. "The only thing capable of defeating a large army of hydralisks is an even larger army of hydralisks."

I got beat so many times by 10 -14 year olds, lol
And dont forget the cheaters too. But it is still the funest game for me. The others are too complex, Starcraft is easy enough for me to understand and dont forget the best part, when someone BSs me and I am able to kick their ass (not that often but GREAT none the less)

Afraid not! I sort of went from a starfighter phase into a more strategy based version of that, and eventually ended up playing ST Armada to get my RTS fix. Played that for a long while until the game's limitations became to much of an issue, and took up the various incarnations of Starfleet Command for my strategy/starship combat fix...

I remember Armada, that was fun. I had a demo version.

Lol, the only game I remember playing in 3rd grade was on my apple 2E @ home. I think I was playing Rescue raiders and Karatika, both and more are still available via an emulator.
If there is anyone interested let me kno I tried them out last year I am sure I can dig them out.
Did anyone else start there? (apple 2E) or sooner?
I played around with computers @ school but that was my first home comp.

I had a Vic-20, lol (that cost about $1200 and lasted a week before I got bored and threw it in the closet)
hey drew what was ur name on Starcraft? (you were probably one of the 3rd graders that kicked my ass)lol
I started with Atari's console.
Then I had a commodore 64 and later 128 and Apple 2E...
Achhh, the good old days ;)
Anyway, I am thinking, seriously, why won't we play some Starcraft online?
Let's do it and just talk about it ;)

Oh man, if you guys get a time that is in the evenings, I'm down. Of course I need to dig my copy out. A few times a year I get the urge and play it again. So far it has been the perfect RTS made to date IMO.
We need to sync our time zones, because your evenings may not be my evenings ;)
I am currently in Europe...

So we can play at about 21:00 - 23:00 - your time...
What about your time zone, borschtBomber[SS]
If Starcraft II is going to be made, then I'm sure I'll get.
And I'm sure that it'll be the greatest RTS ever !

I love the good old fashoned tanks in seige mode, BOOM! LOL, Sometimes I play Protoss but never liked Zerg.(to slimey, lol)
ill be there, and i think that im on the same timezone as markkleb
i personaly like protoss, yeah the tanks rock on seige cuz they got such distance and its bassicly one shot kills
Yup, tanks rule, although they are pretty weak on melee attacks, let alone, air attacks...
They must have some support ;)
Probably it will be released in 2008, the way I know Blizzard, but... the plot will be awesome!
The graphics: stunning
And the gameplay: addictive
LOL...
2008 is a very optimistic assumption when speaking about Blizzard ;)
I would say something like 2010, a nice round number...

Before Starcraft 2, Blizzard must complete Starcraft: Ghost, which has pretty much become a "ghost" of a game... which is too bad, as it looked promising (even if it was being developed for consoles :P)
I'd like Blizzard to release Diablo III personally, although alot of the core team has moved on to Hellgate: London which I am eagerly awaiting :) :)

Well, Diablo III should be great as well, I would love to put my hands on that some day :)
Also, Hellgate, which I wrote a pymPreview (http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6514&highlight=pympreview+hellgate) here before, looks promising indeed!

I just read this! I thought about thanking you for saying that we rule, but then you needed to say that other part about us being weak and needing support sooo.. Now I'm personaly insulted.
BTW I'm looking forward to all three games and I'm sure they'll be great because Blizzard can never disappoint.
