i think that since XFX kicks soo much @$$ that mabey its time to expand into mobos, they make some nice cards, and i would like to see some nice mobos :D

also, has there ever been a dual agp mobo(just for more monitors without having to buy pci)? or even a agp AND pcie?

I believe AGP+PCI has been done. But the only AGP+PCIe combos I know of will only give you some fireworks if you attempt to run both kinds of cards at once. I've never seen an AGP+AGP board at all either.

I voted no because with the motherboard market, a company needs some product differentiation to survive. Whether that is becuase they have the better prices (ASrock), reputation for reliability (Intel), overclockers (DFI or ASUS), and so on. Abit lost their reputation for being an overclocking brand and almost went out of business before they were bought out. Just yesterday I read that Chaintech and another company I can't recall are planning to leave the mainboard market... Right now, I don't believe XFX has the brandname or can offer any kind of product differentiation that would let them get even a foot in the already full motherboard market...

I also said no since the market is so huge with top dogs board makers that XFX might have a hard time trying to compete if they don't manufacturer a strong board that can compete with companies like Asus, MSI, and DFI. I mean how often do you see anyone choosing a BFG or eVGA mobo over Asus, MSI, or DFI?

I voted no as well. They should stick with what they're doing right now IMHO. Concentrate on one product and let all your efforts go to that. Otherwise you might end up with a so-so motherboard and a so-so gfxcard. While now you only get a really good gfxcard :)

hmm, never thought of it that way....
well how do people feel about giga-byte?
i believe they make good boards but they absolutly SUCK for overclocking, and ontop of that their customer support sucks
ive had a good experience with my brothers MSI and my friends A-Bit
my dads been through 5 mobo's cuz of overheating, but he doesnt believe me:roll:(his only fan is through the psu)

Ok but heres the deal, Gigabyte makes video cards and mobos and XFX only makes video cards which is the topic at hand.

I voted "yes" as well... but only if they feel they can add something of value to the mobo marketplace. If not, or if it's too big a risk that will cause their video cards to suffer, then HELL NO, stick to video cards XFX ;)

My sig and I would beg to differ :-P I would not have given Gigabyte a second glance before I bought this board... but so far only ASUS has been able to produce boards that OC as well as Gigabyte's currently can. Ironically though, this board was $150... you won't find either of the great OCing ASUS boards for less than $250-$280.

But to go back on topic, even Gigabyte has a product differentiation strategy that works to some degree, and XFX would have to invent or carve one of their own from scratch if they wanted a prayer of recouping the costs of expanding into the motherboard market.

yep but only if they go head to head with DFI that would be cool, and maybe benificial to us overclockers:lol:

well i guess we agree that if they have a strategy and $ then they could pull it off
if they do expand, i would be the 546th person to buy one (assuming i save up in time)

I'm not sure whether it will be a good step since the motherboards industry is very competitive. But, since XFX have very good video cards and I personally like their products very much, I would definitely be intersted to see them makings motherboards as well. :???:

I'm pretty sure they can make great motherboards if they really want to.

WAY TO GO, XFX!!!
