If you're letting it run as a service you have to go to start -> run and typ in services.msc
There look for a service called FAH and pauze it :)

Just leave it open if you want to game. Leeaving the console open shouldn't affect playing games, I know it doesn't when I have it minimized and I play a game.

Also I prefer not to use it as a service so this way I have control of when I could close it. Maybe think about that.

Too complicated??? ALl you do is double click the app to open it? How hard is that? unless you are having troubles configuring the console version?

I personally think the console version is easy, but pick your poison.

The console version does not have the problems with games that the GUI version has.

I too vote for the console version. It's so quick and easy to set it and forget it ;)

Yep, I learned my lesson about the GUI version. It was more a pain with the GUI version playing games since you did have to stop it. No issues with games and the console version.

I've been using the graphical one on my computers so far, minimized to the tray. Does F@H run any faster (finish more WUs) with the console version/running as a service?

GUI version is limited to one single instance, so it cannot run two clients to take advantage of dual core CPU's. The console version has a slightly smaller resource footprint, and is less obtrusive for people who want it to run all the time.

Hmm, thinking of sneaking it on to my roommate's machine, just for good measure. And then when it's been running for a couple weeks and hasn't noticed, mention it to her. ;P

You mean the one that is heavily into P2P? Would be funny to see how long before she even noticed...

Been running the console version for a couple days now. Since its footprint is so small, there's no impact on my gaming and it's been running 24/7. Glad I made the move to it, thanks!

Any disbelievers who think the console version isn't as good as the GUI version should give it a try and they will be changed forever. Configuring it is just as easy.

This is what I have been trying to convice people of forever. I am glad people are giving it a try. I personally like that it doesn't interfere with D3D games.

Main reason why I use the console version; plus its not hard to configure at all.
