Are there any beeps when you turn on the comp?
have you tried the Video card in another comp?
Is the power cable pluged into the Video Card?
Have you tried to re seat the video card?
Mabye even move the memory to different slots..
And welcome to Bjorn3D..

I think you might not have pushed the vid card all in. Did it click in the PCI-E slot? I remember it sometimes takes quite a bit of force to get them in right, so first time users might find that a bit creepy. Same thing goes for the ram.

yeah but nothing beeps and i cant try the video card on another computer because the old one in m yhouse has only an agp 4x/8x, i did push it all the way dow and it the click also, about the power i did connect it directly to the power supply or the one with the othe extenders but i do see the fan running on the gpu

Is your screen getting juice? (it would be kind of funny if you forgot to plug it in, but these things happen)

I would take the mobo OUT of the case and build it on your desk.
Is the PS a good one?
Just put the CPU/Fan, mem and VC on it and plug it in. Make sure there is a speaker plugged into the mobo to listen for beeps.
If still no start you either have to try ur VC in another mobo or another VC in your mobo.
I just fixed a comp where the CPU fan turned on (but not the monitor) and it turned out to be the CPU.

No beeps isn't good. Try re-seating the ram and CPU. One thing to try is take the board out of the case as maybe there could be a short somewhere when its installed in a case.

how would there be a short?

sometimes the brass "stand-offs" are in the wrong place, (sometimes people forget to use tham at all)
also the metal tabs on the in/out plate can be inside the USB/10-100 sockets.
And sometimes the cases are crooked, so the cards dont seat well.

Sometime when motherboard isn't seated right on a motherboard try the standoffs could be touching part of trace lines. It sometimes happens but not often.
EDIT:  you beat me to the punch markkleb:lol:

Leaving in a motherboard riser in the case when there is actually no hole for the screw there, is one common issue. ;)
Romo, no beeps mean your machine is not POSTing. Before you go through the effort to remove everything from the case though, I would suggest removing your second stick of RAM, and reseating the first one like everyone suggests. Try it with only one RAM module in there, and if it does not work then swap out the module in there for the one you already took out and give it another try.
If still no POST, then verify you have connected the extra square 4pin power connector that is next to the CPU socket near the top end of the board.
If you already have, then remove your graphics card and try to boot the machine without a graphics card... it should beep a VGA error at you when you do this.

so the back of the case is flat, and u put in the little metal rasiers and it wont short circuit? only put in the slots that u will need?

Yep only put in the metal raisers where there is a hole where you screw down the motherboard.
yup, good luck with this,
try one stick of ram, or move the duel channel ram into the other slots (how it is on my dfi mobo)
what type of power supply do you have?

Kougar ,yeah will be doing that but when you say connecting the extra 4 pin on top of the cpu thing you are trying to say that i should taky out the eatxpower and connect it to the eatx12v

When you get a case those are usually preinstalled. Especially for non-standard boards, you need to verify all of the risers will actually match up with screw holes on the mainboard, and remove any that do not match. The motherboard will actually ground itself to the case through these, if I recall correctly. If any risers touch the electrified board, it will immediately short the motherboard, as the PSU itself grounds the entire case through the outlet. :)
Romo, yes that was what I was trying to say. ;) Just trying to make sure all of the bases are covered! Please let us know how it goes...
i have the hiper HPU-4K580
well that rules out that the system is underpowerd:lol:
any updates, did you get it working?
put the standoff in the right place/on

would it be possible to put some of the psu cables under the mobo? kinda like hiding it? or would it heat up and damage? for example, hiding it all there and taking the pci-e gfx card power cable, taking it under the mobo and out the bottom side and plugging it in?
markkleb

It would work fine, The cables dont get hot. Just be careful not to pinch the wires..
darkorb

there would be good airflow, so i guess the temps should stay resonably low, antec atlas.
what u mean pinch the wires?
markkleb
09-11-2006, 10:57 PM
If you feel the back of the mobo you will feel the little solder points (some can poke wires)
Sticking wires between the mobo and mobo tray is ok as long as they are free (not pinched) Just make sure they are loose and youll be ok.
My favorite is to put the wires behind the mobo tray but you need to make sure the side cover will close ok and that it also dosent pinch the wires between any braces.

does the antec atlas have a mobo tray?
markkleb
09-11-2006, 11:13 PM
Every comp has a mobo tray, just some are more easy to remove than others.
The Aspire case I modded for the kids (the black one) had a slide in/out mobo tray.(pretty sweet for a $40 case)
The Antec case is probably riveted in place.

Ah i missed out on all the help. DOH lol. On my old Raidmax i could hide EVERYTHING behind the mobo tray cause the side panel came off on that side. With this SonataII everything is riveted in place. I manage though :D

my case is a small one : /
when i work on computers i always put them in an open area on like a desk of something then once everything works right i can pop it in the case and never(hopefully) have to touch it again(well mabey for spring cleaning but thats wuht compressed air is for;-) )
