"BANG Showbiz senior editor Simon Thompson tells ComingSoon.net that he talked to Brent 'Data' Spiner about J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Trek XI. The "Star Trek: The Next Generation" actor says he has ruled out a return to the successful franchise. Spiner made the announcement as "Star Trek" celebrated it's 40th anniversary last Friday."
No more Data? .... :(

Well, if just for the 11th movie, maybe... It makes sense though, I think this one is timecast before Data was "born" anyway?

Ya Star Trek TNG movie with no Data, Thats gonna suck royal donkey nuts.

I don't know if they ever confirmed it was a TNG based movie. Is it?

It was already confirmed it is NOT a TNG movie! So why would Data appear in it anyway...
If http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/e/e4/ST11poster1.jpg isn't a big enough hint, this movie takes place somewhere in the TOS era, if not before it.

I had not read that.
If not TNG what then? Enterprise blows goats, Deep space nine was lame ass, I hope lightlythat it is Voyager, I would Love one last TNG movie. But I guess it is not gonna happen. : (

The movie poster is the big clue, the rest I only know from hearsay. Judging solely on the poster itself, the movie should be sometime after Archer's Enterprise and either before Kirk's TOS series (Possibly something like his Academy days is one line I heard, I should really hope not though!) or after TOS but before the first movie. The colors, fabric/texture that matches those color uniforms, and the insignia all date from that time frame only.

Supposed to be Kirk and crew. Off coarse with new people playing them.

I only thought this information might be interesting, as they are apparently courting both Shatner and Nimoy for some sort of cameo appearance in the new film... Spiner has effectively taken his name off of that potential list (not that he's in the same category as Kirk or Spock :P)
