With videos like this (http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=13158&type=wmv&pl=game) and this (http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=13157&type=wmv)... I really want to pick one up at launch especially for the latest Zelda game and I'm never one to just pick up one game for a particular console whatsoever. Although there will be previous generation of games to play aswell. :) So if anyone is able to pick up one a launch and maybe wait for those silly lines, whose picking this badass console up?

I might pick one up to sell it off of ebay if there is a huge demand with low supplys like the 360 and make a profit ;) Other than that I am a PC gamer ;)

I find that too many of them usually end up pants on gameplay (all flash, no substance), so I've been started to be less excited about PC games over the years as a result and the high requirements on some when many of them come about. :???: The Wii however promises to do something new and isn't about showing off who has more graphics power which has the attitude that it equates to better gameplay along with it. I could go on, but I believe we have heard such things over again..

I'm a PC gamer at hear, but I do like what the Wii is bringing to the table as opposed to PS3 or the 360. I've always been a fan of Nintendo's products and not of the other two, for the simple reason...once you get past the flashy graphics, the games are really just so so IMO.

I'm really tempted to jump at the wii, but I've just spent so much on computer parts as of late...

I never have owned a console and more than likely never will, I see no reason to have more than one gaming device...........;)
My step-son on the other hand, owns just about every one ever made and plans on getting both the Wii as well as the Sony when they come out. I guess it pays to be single with a good paying job when you're a gaming junkie like he is.

if u think about it, consoles are alot better cost per ratio, since the gfx for the 360 look basically the same as pc's, and u dont need to upgrade ur hardware to keep up with the new games, game load times are good, no lag or anything for like $500+tax. pc with good components are like $1500~
but i like pc gaming better :>

As with anything, there are drawbacks and advantages to consoles... Namely, my biggest one is that most console games are still "dumbed down" versions of their PC counterparts. If I'm going to play the game, I want the full game, not just the parts they think work best or were easy to port to a console game. Most recent titles still have this issue, they retain all the action but cut out some of the depth. That and every console is a sizeable investment unto itself, I'd rather invest in a single solid high-end computer with my broadband, and still get the great multiplayer action. ;)
On the other hand consoles are great for playing multiplayer with friends though, since it's rather unfeasible to have 4 or more capable computers for everyone that comes over to visit to plug into at once for one big melee. ;)

Maybe I'd pick one up, I hate ordinary gaming console controllers.

One factor is the overall cost of the system plus all the games you'll buy down the road. Paying $70CAD for Wii or PS3 game is insane.

i hate people who dis nintendo for being "only for kids" and "crappy graphics" these people have no taste.
honestly, when have you played a nintendo game, and said "this is boring"
even with the same characters and franchises, nintendo combines inovation, with classics that we all love, and keeps it easy to pick up and enjoy.
with anyone who grew up on the consols of yesterday(and they are even still awesome to play), should not fall for the tyrants of sony or microsoft. instead of wanting your money, nintendo wants to have your satisfaction, and they do more than a good job
plus sony uses little orphans in its consoles:roll:

I would only say its boring because I am not a kid. Look at the Gamecube and tell me the majority of the games aren't cartoonish.

Which I can't help to say that if anyone does it for mostly graphics, they tend to miss out on many good games.. It's the majority of graphics games that uses the same basic gameplay much of the time with some added gimmicks here or there. There are some exceptions to this aswell sometimes. In all, I pretty much agree with this here on Nintendo making games fun for the majority rather than bringing the same stuff everytime in terms of gameplay.

Yes they are, but they have great gameplay. My whole family (even my wife and 4 year old son) can jump in and have a great time playing games like Mario Kart DD and the Mario World games. Like I said, the graphics aren't top of the line, but they have great gameplay. Thinking back to growing up, it was playing games on the Nintendo's with friends that are some of the best memories in gaming I have.

We have two Gamecubes, two Nintendo DS, a gamboy advance and the kids love them.
I hate having to have a memory card though like the Gamecube because of the rediculous cost and poor reliability. We have nothing but problems with cards asking to be formatted or mysteriously erasing. I don't like the fact that the wii will still use cards instead of a harddrive like the XBOX. The XBOX has never lost a save game.
Either way I'm sure the kids will have one under the tree Christmas morning. Mario Golf, MarioKart and the other multiplayer games on Gamecube have provide much entertainment for the kids, my wife and I. The only game we all played on the XBOX as a family is Fusion Frenzy. Nintendo seems to have a way to make games the whole family can enjoy playing together.

Only genuine parts work well(but are 2-3x the price), it always has been like this with every 3rd party console accessories makers AFAIK.
If you got a genuine card, I don't know why yours would be working bad, except for mishandling or mfg defect. Maybe you should get an SD to gamecube adapter(will still be useful for Wii gamecube mode) and fit a large Corsair SD card in there?
I know someone who got his memory cards in the washing machine, still working! The same guy got hit by a car at 30kph, the guy was almost OK, and the NGC(that fell under him) too.

ah yes, nintendo makes solid products, i in fact, still play my grey brick from time to time...gawd i dont know how many times ive dropped that sucker...
also, the game cube does have better over all graphics than the ps2
take a look at resident evil 4 for example
the graphics arent "kiddy" or "cartoony" they are nintendoie....nintendoy...nintendo-e....w/e
realistic graphics are more for people with lesser imaginations
yes i play realistic games myself, but since i dont have the hardware most hardcore gamers have, i probably have to use more imagination to fill the rest that my computer cant do
the game cube is really a decent little box, and i dont care wuht people will say, nintendo will ocme out on top...
now for the wii, i am really looking forward to the controller(not like sony's first one for ps3, or the new one for ps3 that is the same little one for the last two ps's)
probably the best game for ps1/2 is most likely the Grand Turismo series, that company has INCREDIBLE dedication to make that game run taht beautifly on that machine...
 wow i better stop spamming now...

Maybe this thread should have been "Post Here to Bash Nintendo and Their Wii"

Well if that were the topic, I think it would be pretty empty considering most of the posts are positives for Nintendo. :)

Who is bashing? Only thing I don't like is the cards, but we have 2 cubes, 2 DS's, gameboy advance.. I also have a Nintendo 64, Gameboy and the original NES. Hell if we didn't like them we wouldn't have 8 of their systems would we?
I dont' see anyone slamming them in this post. There are some critics, but I don't see anyone bashing.

actually ive never had a problem with the cards, we have 3, one that came with the cube, one that came with animal crossing(uber funn) and a madcatz one that is 18mb i think
the cards are built like the old cartriges were, nice n solid:wink:
wuht brand are they, and wtf are you doing to them?

It is a MadCat 16x card that the kids and I use, my wife got one with Animal Crossing and I don't know if she ever has had a problem or not. I got tired of losing my stuff so I quit playing most of the games. I've played through Zelda several times only to have to reformat the card to start over.
Maybe it is just because it is MadCat, but it has certainly ticked me off. I thought it was a good brand. The card wasn't cheap when I got it.

In all fairness, while MadCatz is a pretty common brand, I have found most of their stuff such as controllers to be complete garbage. I have a Nintendo brand card and haven't had a single issue with it in 2 years. I would guess its due to the low quality of the cartridge rather than the medium in general.

MadCatz? They make POS Nintendo accessories. IIRC, their Xbox controllers are better, but the NGC ones they make are the kind of thing that is already dead after a week. I have some 3rd party N64 memory cards, one is working well, but one isn't. They were bought at the same time. I opened it, the flash chip looks good, but I'm not sure about the PCB or the battery.

MadCatz products have been hit & miss in my experience... like it or not, I prefer the "official" first-party peripherials/accessories. Even if they are overpriced, I would rather have something I know will work than save a few bucks & gamble on my save data :?
That said, the Nintendo Wii will do quite well IMO, especially if you consider the many people that will have $$$ burning a hole in their pockets when they can't find a PS3 to buy and will see the Wii sitting on the shelf ;)
