Well I did it. i just happened to be at Curcuit City the other day and I pre-ordered 2142. It went against my better judgement because I thought BF2 was such a let down. There are a few reasons for this...none of which I will go in to here.
Anyway, the pre-order box comes with a little flash drive that is shaped like dogtags and hangs from a chain. Pretty cool little gift. Some Crysis stuff is pre-loaded on the drive when you get it. Nothing you haven't seen before...trailers and such.
If you decide to do this, I highly advise that you buy it in a store and not online. I pre-ordered BF2 with Amazon before it release. Not only did I not have the game on release day, cutomer service for the site was Hagi over in India. He proceeded to tell me in broken English that they were out of stock of both the game and the free headsets that came with the pre-order. Said that i had to wait untill all orders before mine were filled and that took a few weeks. Meanwhile, everyone that just went to Game Stop or whatever were playing the game. It was a nightmare.

I never pre order a game. Just for the simple reason of I want to wait and see if its worthwhile before dropping my $50 on a game. Plus I don't think I have ever had a problem with getting a game when it hasn't been preordered. Plus, I'm just afraid that 2142 is going to be like BF:Vietnam. A great game, but more of a mod than a whole new game.

Maybe, but I've bought everyone one of them so far so what the heck.

The beta is out if you want to check it out. Not bad, there needs to be some changes to it. I don't like just using the keyboard to control the game. I think the mouse will be used in the final. I can't see how it wont be.

What? You can only use the keyboard for the beta? WTH?

Oh and I have too. I really liked Vietnam, it was just a bad timed release. It was a definite improvement over 1942, but it just wasn't as big of a jump as they would have you believe and not many people played it....which was unfortunate.

I have to say that the music selection in the choppers was a nice touch. The only thing good that spawned from that war was the music of the era. CCR never gets old.
