Hoping you could help me with a big problem i seem to be having with graphical problems when playing any game i own

cs:s
Eve
Hitman Bloodmoney
C&C Generals/Zerohour
Halflife 2

When playing i get a flickering display with dash's across the whole screen as tho your watching tv and i'ts gone out of tune...if i tab out of the game and back in, this sorts it for a short while until it happens again most of the time after a scene change.
Also when i'm playing if this doesnt happen i get graphical errors like streched objects, slight flickering corrupt objects in the game and the best of all sometimes i get disco lights...yes disco lights !

My system comprises of

Asus P5N32-SLi Deluxe
Pentium 640 3.2, 2meg cache (775)
Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-5400C4
Seasonic S12 600W
Samsung SpinPoint 80gig Sata
2x 256Mb XFX 7900GT Extreme's in SLI
Zalman CNPS9500-LED Aero Flower
Belinea 102030W 20.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor
Thermaltake Soprano Case
Any other things i have forgot dvd drive etc etc
Win XP Pro

I heard about the problems with the 7900 series after i had bought them and thought.. oh dear its happening to me.. but i havent yet got it to do it with a single card installed ? and i dont think there artifacts as such.
I dont appear to be getting any other problems apart from whats described above so i was wondering if i have the bios or the sli config's setup incorrectly, i know most things in there and the sli settings in the nvidia conrol pan but there a few that are left on auto in the bios as i not sure what they do :(

These are the corrupt images and the disco lights....

Since you tried the newest and older display drivers you might have a bad 7900GT so try running 3dmark06 and see if you get corruption with a single 7900GT installed at a time and see if you get the same problems. Test 3dmark06 for each card.

Also if you wanna try, decrease the memory and core frequency to stock speeds(450/1320) of a none factory OC'd 7900GT and see if that helps.

Did you get your cards before they released the ones with the new memory? If so then you probley do have a bad card.. Try underclocking it like werty said.

So you already tried a full reformat then? That would rule out old drivers and such, and pretty much everything else.

It does look suspiciously like the RAM on one of those cards is not up to par. And you also said you have tested both cards by themselves, and not found any problems?

I'd suggest you try with only one card installed and run a minimum of two full runs through 3dmark06, and watch for any glitches or artifacts, then repeat with the second card.

Dear Deluded, This appears to be an issue with the memory. Please test your cards individually in each slot with 3D Mark 06 as Werty316 suggested. You want to pay particular attention tothe Canyon Flight and Deep Freeze tests as those really tax the memory and usually will expose any faults. By testing them individually you will be able to determin which of the card have the problem (if any) and then we can work on servicing that unit. Please contact the Xfx support team at www.xfxforce.com => Support => Help Desk and let them know what is going on so we can asssist you directly.

Well im stuck on what to do now ? as everyone is confusing me :(

I have a support ticket with XFX help desk 54071 already

They say contact your original supplier and didnt really offer anything to pinpoint the issue, your saying deal with xfx direct ?

I phoned Scan.co.uk and got a RMA Number setup to return both cards

Which one do i do now ?

Cheers

Test each card individually and not in SLi.

Run a few passes with one card then take it out and install the other card and run a few passes with 3dmark06.

You have to single out which card if any are bad so you can't run both at the same time.

Deluded, you need to physically remove one of the cards so you can test them individually and determine which is producing the errors.

Everyone has been suggesting you do the same thing, once you have removed one card then run the 3dmark06 program, and watch for the same graphic glitches during the full (default) benchmark run. If you still see the errors then you will know that card is the one to RMA, or if not then it is likely the other card that is faulty. In either case, you need to test both cards by themselves. ;) Hopefully I didn't make that any more confusing for ya...

when i clock my memory too high on my card i get texture problems like that on the floor, try underclocking the memory...
you will want to rma one if not both cards if they are faulty

if they both pass individually, it could be an sli issue

Dear Deluded,
If a technician suggested that you contat the reseller then they may have recognized that you may have recived a faulty card. If you are in Europe then the reseller is your exchange source but, if you have difficulty with them then please let the technicians know through your support ticket.
