Hey guys. these are the first pics of my system to be.. its just the case and fans etc. (ill add more on tuesday.)
(sorry about the poor quality the rest will be good lol.. And do you guys think that a 140mm fan on the front 2 80mm fans on the window panel and a 120mm fan on the rear is enough cooling?

looks good, those fans will provide ample cooling, wat case is that?

Really nice looking case there, Great cooling.
I would remove the metal where the fans blow to aid flow. With a little wire management that is gonna be a really nice comp.

The black metal mesh on the front of the case? or the metal directly infront of the fan?

The metal mesh in front of the fan.

Take a look at what I did for a couple of friends of mine..

The style of the case is nice, I wouldnt mess with the outside part but the inside metal part blocks a bunch of air.

Orite thanks ill give it a go, gotta buy my-self some more metal cutter things, they just fell to bits  Dno if you guys know the system that is going into this case you might have read my other Thread.
1Gb (2X512Mb) Corsair TwinX XMS2,
Akasa AK-961 Intel LGA 775, P4 3.8G
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 775, 2.13 GH
512MB XFX 7950GT XT, PCI-E (x16),
Gigabyte GA 965P-DS3 iP965, S775
520W Corsair HX Series Modular PSU,
Along with some nice UV lights :D
Im planning to overclock the 6400 to around 2.8ghz maybe higher. Should be a nice looking and running system *fingers crossed*

NOOOO!!!! the other metal...... Just kidding. Perfect.
If a fan is about 50cfm and there is metal in front/behind it the CFM can be lowered by half or more depending on how the holes are punched.
And that dosent even take into account drives, wires and cages in the way.
You will find airflow is MUCH better, great job.
Pat123
09-23-2006, 02:24 PM
ahh okies i took the mesh off aswell tht was majorly restricting airflow.. (see pic)

I think you had better left the mesh on. You'll need to install a fan guard now.
Pat123
09-23-2006, 03:28 PM
i can easily get the mesh back on.
and i have a spare fan guard if need be.
i think i might modify the mesh abit to let more air through..
Are Fan guards needed?

You only need them to keep your fingers safe, or other little things out of the fans...........;) It's totally a personal choice.

Do as you like, but it's a lot safer if there is one on.
Pat123
09-23-2006, 04:36 PM
okies i will either not put anything on.. or ill modify the mesh to let more air through because it lets near enough no air through..

ok i modifeid the mesh it looks cool lol..

09-23-2006, 05:02 PM
Maybe get a bigger piece of mesh so it covers the big hole.; it would look cleaner.
Do as you like, but it's a lot safer if there is one on.
Safer??? Do you get pleasure out of sticking your finger(s) in a fan while its spinning?
Its fine without a fan grill since the front panel covers it anyhow ;)
Pat123
09-23-2006, 05:22 PM
hmm yeh suppose.. ill leave it like this until ive built it up then ill see what it looks like...
The picture is of what i have done to it. (Before and after.)

there was nothing covering it. It is the front panel. I just like fanguards because I think it's absolutely plausible you'll get something in there one day. It might be a finger, but it might be dozens of other things as well. And it's not like a fanguard will obstruct airflow.

ok ive cut up my fan guard to cover up the fan, but i just need a way to attach it
im thinkin araldite lol.. should work fine.

Anyoen with half a brain is not gonna stick anything in there; if you don't touch its not gonna do harm; its safe without a grill and nothing is gonna get in there anyhow unless you have curious rats in your house.

Not gonna put a piece of mesh on the front panel? It looks naked without something there since there is a giant hole.

Ok when my parts arrive should be any time soon.. lol..i wanna overclock my 6400 anyone know of a tutorial or something similar using the DS3 motherboard. well if not a tutorial just some figures and stuff so i can go for a 3.0Ghz overclock maybe more depending on it stabilty using the akasa AK-961.

09-24-2006, 08:26 PM
Its pretty basic. Just increase the FSB in the BIOS untill you hit a wall then increase the CPU voltage. If you have crappy OC'ing memory use a memory divder.

1Gb (2X512Mb) Corsair TwinX XMS2, does tht memory allow core 2 duo to overclock well..? its 667Mhz
werty316
09-25-2006, 01:12 AM
Hard to say since I haven't used them. Try google and see if you can find some reviews of your memory. If it doesn't OC well you can always use a memory divider.

I would highly suggest reading the article Mark linked to if you are looking at buying RAM for a C2D system!
A good rule of thumb, is to look at the voltages. Generally the lower voltage RAM (1.8v or 1.9v) will get you much farther than anything that requires higher volts. Corsair uses better chips that require less voltage, so they usually OC very well. :)

Argh, why is everything so cheap in the US. DDR2-800 isn't cheap over here man!

Problem is that even if we would decide to buy overseas, and if the shop would be willing to do that. We would probably pay about the same because of shipping and duties :s
werty316

It maybe cheaper in North America but 2GB DDR2-800 kits are still expensive at around over $400CAD in Canada.

Whay are you buying a PC if you can dual-boot on your Mac? A GPU problem?
Pat123
09-28-2006, 09:55 PM
Because i can:P lol.. and the mac is mainly for photoshop etc.. i want a modded powerful pc for gaming and generally messing about on.. Personally i prefer Pc to mac because of upgrade capabilities but mac is great for some
3d design and photoshop editing etc.

how much money do you have that you can afford to buy a computer for photoshop, and not only a computer but one of that caliber

Same ol thing as telling that Sony is still reliable, both Windows and MacOS got the same graphic capacities, and even run on the same processor. It's just slower.
