I will be putting it in the Conroe system I will be building in the next 30 days or so. I got 4GB because I want to be a Vista ready gaming fool.

Yep 4GB and man I thru it in the FX 62 and notice a huge improvement. I have been playing Company of Heroes which is a real cool game but eats up the RAM and stuff. After coming out of the game the system would be sluggish for about 2-3 minutes.

Now it freaking flies. Pretty cool. Can't wait to build the Conroe with it.

I sooo have the itch for some 1ghz low volt memory now! Namely Corsair's new 1,111mhz 4-4-4-12 Dominator series... priced to match the 2407WFP for 2gb.

Apparently the RAM is the only thing holding back my overclock, because I'm dead sure I have headroom on the FSB, MCH, and at 1.36v plenty on the CPU left. Still need to reinstall XP and run a few last ideas though before I give up on pushing it to 3.6ghz with this RAM...

If you are able to notice a difference with 4gb maybe I can justify grabbing a 2nd 2gb hit... Any way to quantify that difference you are getting? Does XP manage to even use that much, or finally quit using huge page files without having to be set to? ;)

Ok I have read up on XP 32 and how it manages the RAM. It see up to 4GB. When you run task manager and look at peformance it says I have 2.3GB.

So I did some reading, unless you put a switch on something like /3 when booting that is all task will report. But what is actually happening is the OS is using 2GB and then giving another 2GB that you don't see in task manger to APPS.

I always leave my browser up with many tabs opened and go play the game, hey multitaksing OS right!! Coming out of the game it would take 2-3 minutes before the system was fast again, unloading RAM and stuff. But know since the game did not load in the OS's 2GB the machine flies right when I come out. And I know the XP is seeing it all because when I go into CPUID it show I am running 4GB and each bank is being seen.

Pretty cool huh??

Very cool When i exit CoH i need to wait a long time :(
4GB is great!!
BTW - at work i am working with $GB machine on DUalCore opterons and when ever you add PCI cards to the computer you lose a lot of memory even if the Bios shows 4GB on Windows it will read 3.3 GB .
and somewhere i red that in any case Win32 system can only sees upto 3.5GB at most because of soem PCI bank restriction.
What i was saying is - CONGRATS ON THE GREAT MEMORY

Well I went in to Sandra 2007 and it even shows the 4GB and says it is all working well. So if tools are seeing and the performance has really increased I am a very happy guy.

wow 4 gig, man my intel system is just running 1gig (that's definitely not good for Vista). I tested Vista, it seems that 2 gig is really the minimum. That looks like an awesome memory.

I thought I read somewhere that XP makes a ramdisk of anything more than 2Gb of ram?

I have read my technet subscription notes and what is happening is just what I wrote about. Pretty cool if you ask me. The switch so you can see 3GB in the boot up actually may slow your performance if you multitask. I do that alot so I am leaving it alone.

WOW!!! CONGRATULATIONS Scott!!! 4GB is surely A LOT!!! And it's a great thing to have, especially with the VISTA coming out soon...

I'm dying to get 4GB, though I'm pretty satisifed with my current 2GB OCZ RAM...

Whoa, that's some nice RAM you've got going on there, Scott! I had a hard time thinking about 2GB of RAM for my system, let alone 4GB :?
