Well if you only want it cleaned to reload the OS then just but up the XP install disk, delete the old partiotion and create a new one.

If you want to hide stuff from people then you need to do the WD tools and write across the entire drive.

Its just i cant use the os disk thing because its a different disk with different Key code etc. lol.. So whats the best way to just wipe it to install a new version of windows?

Insert the Windows XP disk in your CD/DVD drive and follow the instructions at the beginning of the install process...it allows you to completely delete the partition(s) and then format the drive which is all you'll need to do.

Yep, what Miles said, which is what I basically said.

Goto Seagate's website and read this (http://www.seagate.com/support/kb/disc/faq/ata_llfmt_what.html). Then download Seagate's DiscWizard Starter Edition here (http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/drivers/discwiz.html) to wipe the HD.

you can use your old copy of windows unless you dot want to do it
as long as the same cd key is used by no more than 2 cores at any one time, it will install and activate flawlessly (registering idk about, i have never done that:P ) if you legaly obtained teh software with honest $, then its fine to use by you however you want as long as you dont violate teh EULA

2 cores per key, reinstals are fine, transfers to a new machine is fine
ive done it a million bajillion trillion gazillion times with a legal copy of my own, legaly activating, no probs

as far as wiping your drive i dotn see why you would need to.
boot into safe mode when you throw the drive in, and install the new drivers in there...heck it might even boot fine with your current drivers, my dads did when he got a new machine and booted from his old instalation(given it was slower than hell)

but if your not worried about loosing your settings or any files, and want a fresh instalation, go ahead and wipe that sucker

like others told, windows disk, you could use a low level format utility, or a partitioning utility (Knoppix Linux LiveCD works for this)

Windows setup can format for you which wipes a HD clean as others mentioned which is the easest way.
