I am trying to figure out what speed of mem to go with, I know that if I go with 667 I will have no compatibility issues, whereas if I go with 800 I may have issues... am going to have an E6300 C2D, with the ASUS P5WDH-Deluxe, I was looking at either Mushkin ddr2667/800, or OCZ GX-XTC Platinum ddr800, and all 3 mem modules are in the same cost frame as far as I see it, so I was wondering what U guys think I should do?

I was looking more along the lines of the mushkin 667, or the OCZ 800platinum GX-XTC stuff, both dual channel 2x1g sticks

well, I sold my mem/cpu to a friend for $400 plus his 3000 939 pin and his 2x512 of samsung mem, which I am than selling the mobo mem/cpu combo for about $175, and than I am buying a bundle from intel through my work for $220, with an e6300, and a mobo, and vista ultimate edition, I am selling that mobo to my parents, and updating there system, and yeah. so as of right now all i have is a 3000+ with one gig of mem

You should be able to get an overall higher OC'ing rate on the memory and CPU side with DDR2-800 since its is clocked higher than DDR2-667. If you don't get good DDR2-667 OC'ing memory you'll have to resort on using a memory divider.

Give this a read: http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2797

I haven't looked at prices, but out of what you named I'd say mushkin 800 stuff. I didn't like OCZ before, and now with the issues with their voltage hungry stuff I'd really suggest avoiding it unless you know that it works fine out of the box in that board. It's not the 800mhz speed, so much as the voltages most 800mhz memory needs that is causing these problems.

I sound like a broken record , but check this out first,

It's just that I find it very hard to justify spending more money on the memory, than on the cpu, I already went(how i like to see it pretty splurgulous on cahs when I grabbed the P5WDH) but now to spend another $350-400 on memory, Would I get as much of a performance boost if I ordered 2x1g dual channel kits ie 4x512mb of stuff. also since when is 2.2v high volts for ram thats what the OCZ is at, and if I have to raise the volts on the ddr667 to get a moer stable oc, but the OCZ is already there...?? and it is 800 so wouldnt ocz be my best bet?

BTW heres the links/sites I am looking at

keep in mind canadacomputers is in CAD, and Mushkin site is in USD

Is it possible to use the discount in europe. I had a look at the mushkin site when looking for memory, but they only ship in the US. So I was wondering if you can get a discount at a retailer?

Ok , what If I get 1 stick of ddr800 (1gb stick)now and get another 1gb stick in like 2 weeks will it still work as good as a dual channel set?

It might, but you're not guaranteed.

I definately wanna go with mushkin, its just a matter of having enough $$ to get what I want which is the ddr2 800 stuff, like I am only just a 17yr old kid, and I have been saving some paycheques so I am getting close to having enough cash but not quite there for the mem as well, I was also thinking about doing this

http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/memory_detail.asp?id=349
get one set now and one set in like a week or 2

Wait until you can get both sticks at the same time, then you are guaranteed it will work as a dual channel set.

as long as you get the same 2 sticks it will be fine. I did the same a while before with PQI Turbo 1 gig sticks. All my mobos have shown them as dual channel.

The only problem would be if they discontinue the memory, and that probably isant going to happen with Mushkin. Try to go with the 1 gig sticks and not the 512s (future proofing)

But before you spend anything READ THE DAM ARTICLE I KEEP POSTING LINKS TO..

QUOTE:
The Value DDR2 tests comparing seven 2GB DDR2 kits at less than $200 provided quite a few surprises. ALL of the seven brands reached DDR2-800 with a voltage increase to around 2.2V. This performance was a complete surprise for DDR2 memory kits rated at DDR-533 or DDR2-667. Most of the value kits also reached DDR2-800 memory timings of 4-3-3. This is only slightly slower than our High-Performance DDR2 group at DDR2-800 3-3-3. This means performance of this group is almost exactly the same at DDR2-800 or DDR2-667 as the High-Performance DDR2 - at less than half the price! We will have additional Conroe performance test results from this group in a future article.

Than I also won't have a computer...

Thing is that over here the difference in price between 2Gb pc5300 kits and pc 6400 kits is minimal. So it wouldn't be the best choice to go for pc5300 then I think, well atleast not when you live where I live.

Well I am looking at the mushkin site, as I dont know of any other place that sells high end mushkin ram to Canada, but yeah, it would be a lot easier for me if I just won the fishbwl contest lol, than I could grab a second x1900xtx and crossfire. Its hard to have a limited budget of $900 CAD and have spent $300 on the motherbaord already, and trying to decide whether to be without a computer for yet another week b/c of no ram. Do you see the agony I am going through. I want to be able to throw everything together and in my system the day it arrives, that is why I was thinking about grabbing a single stick of ddr800 mushkin the black one , 1gig stick and than another in like a week/2 later but if i just waited like another week/2 I could have a completely legit dual channel....UGH

just pay the extra cash, instead of waiting
