*solved*
I've recently upgraded from my old GeForce 6600 to the 7900GT VIVO beast I'm running now, and ever since the change, i've been (seemingly) unable to use overlays. (Everything else runs without any trouble whatsoever.) I've tried everything from uninstalling and reinstalling ten (yep, 10) different versions of the nVidia drivers, to two -complete- reinstalls of Windows (I'm a Uni student -- too much time on my hands  ) but all to no avail. I'm unable to use my old card any more, so thats not an option for me. Does anyone have any suggestions on possible fixes, or am I going to have to return this card?
---*edit*---
After numerous tests and much time playing with settings, the good people in XFX tech support suggested I test changing the clock speed on my video card (both up and down, to see if it helped), in this case, I underclocked my card by 5Mhz on both the Core and Memory bus, and now have perfectly working overlays. INCLUDING when I returned the clock speeds to full 'factory' defaults. -- Thus, Overlay Problems No More!.
