hi everyone,
i'm about to get a new mobo for someone i know, i've found 2 kn9 mobos, one with Nvidia 570sli chipset(which have many reviews, and many bios issue as well) and another one with nf4 ultra chipset.
i'm not gonna use the sli, i wanted to get the 570ultra but i didn't find it, i've found only the 2 mobos i've mentioned before, and the price difference isn't big at all.
so what do u think the best one???

If the price difference is neglible, I'd go with the newer NVidia 570 ABIT mobo. It's more future-proof that way ;)

If the price difference isn't much I would go with the KN9 SLI which uses the 570 SLI chipset. It's a newer chipset with a few more features than the NF4 Ultra chipset found on the vanilla KN9 motherboard.

You can compare the differences here.

ok, for me, i don't care about firewire or spdif, the price difference is about 35$.
the only thing i'm afraid from are these problems with its bios(i've read this in 2 or more reviews but i can't remember where)
so, do u think that it's better than the nf4 version even if i don't use sli.
i'll get this mobo tommorow so please help me, i want something stable and reliable.

If you're only looking for stability and not features or future expandability go with the NF4 version. It's been around much longer and the BIOS should already be stable. The 570 SLI version has a few more features but since it's newer the BIOS hasn't matured yet. Most BIOS related issues probably have to do with overclocking. Do you plan on OC'ing this system?
whatever

i'm not planning ocing it, maybe too little oc(maybe not).
btw, is the Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe a good mobo?
i can get another 50$ with the money i've now and get this mobo, so is it good?

Nope, I think that is the one board ASUS shot themselves in the foot with.

DFI loves you more, but i dont think they have a lanparty board for AM2 yet.
whatever

you know, i was planning first to get the lanparty, but after seeing this abit i changed my mind and also because the am2 dfi mobo is too expensive.

I personaly would have gotten the DFI Lanparty NF590 SLI-M2R myself. But everybody has their personal companies they like.

If I ever upgrade to AMD it would be a toss-up between Abit and DFI as to which board to get. I've had great luck with both companies.
whatever

i'd like to get DFI but it's not at any store here where i live, and i can't get it from newegg at this time. so i went for Abit, i found both KN9(570sli and NF4 ultra) and after many discussions i think that the NF4 version is better(although i'd like to get the 570sli version but it has many bios issues).

I've finally bought all the pc parts(i reaplced the nf4 mobo with the 570sli one), and i'm running it now,but the temp. reading of the cpu is too low, it's 19c while the room temp is about 27c.

Never believe any temperature readings in the bios or in an app. Only sure fire way is a thermal reading device.

You might give this program a try: CoreTemp (http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/)

True, but they are not THAT far off.

Most likely the user whatever (http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/member.php?u=2857) is using air and you can't get 19c on air on todays CPUs. 3-5c would be alright but a mobo read a temp at 10c when it should be much higher like 30-40c? Thats way off in my book.

Yes, and that's why I say it's not repesentative of how the sensors measure in all the other motherboards. There's definately something wrong with it. I interpreted your post like "well, there's nothing wrong with your sensor, they're all crap".

How can you not under stand this? its plain and simple.
A mobo temp readings are never bang on as most PC enthusiasts know and reading a CPU temp of 10c is proof.

the problem now is that I'm worried about the cpu, what if it was very hot while running a game and i don't realize that.
another thing, my HDD produce a sound like a clock sound even when it's idle.

I think all current CPUs shutdown when they reach a threshold temperature or atleast it can be done in the BIOS.
If your HD produces any "clicking" sounds I think its on its last leg. Better to the HD diagnostic app from your HD maker.

i'll try the diagnostic tool and see what will it say.
thanks very much
edit:
the quick test says it's ok but i'll run the extended test and see what it'll say.
i ran the extended test and it says it's ok, so i think i'm finally little worried about it now.
