Sure you wouldn't like to trade? I could really use some DDR-400+ or DDR2-667+ RAM, or a good micro-ATX board. Other wise, the Seagate ST336704LC SCSI hard drives are $70 each, or best offer.

I have (1) of each Crucial 256MB DDR-266 and DDR-333 modules, and also have a pair of Crucial 128MB DDR-266 modules.
Full PC-100/133 list above.

Das, do ya have any 100FSB SLOT Pentium IIs at, near, or over 1ghz? If you do, those are worth a pretty penny over on ebay believe it or not.
I don't see anything I'm looking for... but incase ya haven't already, I do suggest slapping this list on Anandtech's traders forum! Stuff sells like crazy over there, and they do try to regulate the scammers out of it. Only drawback is you must name prices for everything. ;)
What sort of mini-ATX board were you looking for? AMD/Intel/Socket, etc.
Edit: Didn't see the replies... how much for a single DDR-266 256mb stick shipped?

Nope. I do have a SLOT A 1GHZ Athlon... I will add it to the list.
What sort of mini-ATX board were you looking for? AMD/Intel/Socket, etc. Something to fit sockets 478 or 775, preferrably.
Edit: Didn't see the replies... how much for a single DDR-266 256mb stick shipped? The 256MB DDR-266 PC2100 Crucial RAM is new, and sells for $41.99 at Crucial here: http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.asp?imodule=CT3264Z265 I could part with it for $40 shipped... or trade. PM me with ideas. :)

Got a 3Com 3C905x NIC?
Any >400Mhz Slot 1 (P2/P3)?
Will the P3 600MHz work with a slot370 to Slot1 adapter?
You probably won't trade with my old parts ;)
Quantum 8.4GB
ATi Xpert 98 8MB
2x 128MB PC100 same model
EPoX AT/ATX (AT size) Socket 7 (K6/P1) mobo
Asus AT/ATX (AT size) Socket 7 (K6/P1) mobo (Maybe recycled)

cheap 45x CDROM
Hmmm... RAM, mobo, CPU, PSU, graphic card, HDD, CDROM... Well, that makes a computer! (I didn't even notice that I actually have enough stuff for a complete computer!)
I had LOTS of DX and Pentium I stuff but all this went to computer recycling(Not to be assembled, to be destroyed, sniff... good bye first computer I had!)

I take it you need some hard drives? I am going to have to check on how to ship all that, since I don't ship to Canada on a regular basis. Please PM me with the address, and your suggestion on which service I use to ship.

Just package well and go with USPS. You've got less forms to fill, and he'll have less trouble. If you rate the thing under $20 you can get tracking by using UPS ground.

Please explain this. UPS (as well as FedEx) include insurance for the first $100 in value.

Shipping fees are on your side, but he will have to pay this on delivery:
Customs fees (Starting at $20 -> Taxes on declared value, going to customs)
-----------------------
Federal and Provincial taxes
+
Brokerage Fees(Going to UPS this time) :
Declared Value Fees
-------------------------------
$0.00 to $20.00 None
$20.01 to $40.00 $7.00
$40.01 to $100.00 $19.45
$100.01 to $200.00 $29.00
$200.01 to $350.00 $37.60
$350.01 to $500.00 $42.25
$500.01 to $750.00 $48.05
$750.01 to $1,000.00 $53.70
$1000.01 to $1250.00 $59.50
$1250.01 to $1600.00 $63.25
$1600.01 to $5000.00 $66.70
Every $1,000 more +$5.20
+
Disbursement Fees (If you don't pay before the package is received, but you normally don't know about the fees) :
-------------------------------------
Collect on Delivery Fees $4.25
A little 2.7% of the brokerage & disburement fees you add to the total with a minimum of $5.85
-------------------------------------
+
Federal and Provincial taxes on UPS fees

$ About the same thing as he paid for the package itself.
UPS Sucks. :x
If he's living near an UPS warehouse and "customs" if they can be called like this (They can be very far from the border), he can pass 1-2 hours doing the brokereage himself going at the UPS warehouse get some forms, pay customs duties (Fed and Prov taxes) and return to UPS get the package to end up with just customs taxes this way.
FedEx :
Same thing as UPS but you can't do brokerage yourself.
USPS / Canada Post:
Brokerage fees = nothing or $5(starting at $60)
Customs duties = Just taxes (Starting at $60)
There are some things that they don't charge taxes for, like computer hardware and what's manufactured in the USA and Canada, but I'm not sure if it's only if you buy something from a commercial place. Also, they sometimes don't charge you the fees if they have too mch packages to deliver.
It's pretty complicated to know what has taxes on and what doesn't, but greedy UPS and FedEx will probably charge you on everything  , while the customs will probably just charge what they need to.
What to know with UPS:
-If he can work out with UPS brokerage by himself or the declared value is under $20 CAD, no problem.
-If not, USPS all the way. Put some more packaging as they're told to be not-so-good with handling(Never had trouble), that's it.
Just be glad you know it before sh*t happens. A lot of Canadian buyers(Including me) got this surprise, and contacted their sellers(Who react the same way). At least, I found I could do brokerage myself.
Btw, if he can do brokerage, you will have to put on the box and waybill "Clear Own" and "Hold for Pick-up" highlighted to simply things, he will also have to call and state that he'll do brokerage by himself before package gets to destination and double-check that tracking states that he will do it.
If they get at the door, he can still do it, he has to tell them that he'll do the brokerage AND then call to tell that he will do the brokerage himself.
Remember, that's just with UPS, USPS/Canada Post is much less trouble ;)

I wrote an other (more detailed and unfinished) version to put on my website, it's in a text file somewhere... I don't remember exactly where it is on my computer tho.
You just have a basic version here
I compiled a lot of information I found on various websites with the other one.

Thank you for the very informative explaination DragonMaster, it is appreciated. That would be the kind of post which earns rep points in other forums.
So lets see if I learned anything here: Ship via USPS and declare the value at or under $20. Sound correct? Did I miss something?
DragonMaster
10-15-2006, 02:21 AM
Err... that's why I told it's a basic version.
USPS is OK with $60 and under. They probaably won't charge anything if it's higher because it's computer hardware.
UPS is OK under $20, or $60 as gift (but it's illegal to do this...)

That sounds good to me. Post some prices and I will get back to you via PM ;)
On a side note, in my experience with either UPS or USPS, it doesn't really matter... they (UPS/USPS/Customs) can choose to screw you any way they like it, and we have to take it or else not receive the package :( Das, declaring items as a "GIFT" can sometimes bypass Customs fees, but not always :(

If USPS charges you anything, it's $5 and the customs duties. (THAT's the difference) If in the customs declaration, there is the country of origin and the type of material, you might save on this, but for an used HDD made in Songapore or Taiwan, forget it.

I've been shipping stuff for years, and I only had one person get charged with duties fees overseas..
always put gift or samples no value on the declaration.. I never shipped UPS international so not sure about that one
i was an Ebay power seller before they decided to raise the rates like every month, then I quit, so i shipped quite a bit of stuff all over the place
