I'm looking for a decent budget silent 120mm fan to put on a 250W Fortron PSU. Any ideas? Should I look in electronic surplus instead of computer stuff? (Cheaper, since it's not as commercial as computer parts, but the fans are all the same)

Bingo! ;)

Though shipping might be a bit much.
Chances are in any place you order online you'll pay more for one fan then you should. Maybe check any local shops first unless they are theifs also and charge $20 for a fan.

I am nutts for the AC fans. they move the most air and are the quietest and the cheapest (that I have used)

If you want lights (But its not as dependable or blows as much air).

(if you just want a plain black 120mm, PM me I have a box full of fans and Il send you one)

Too bad you're not local... I have a ton of spare slightly used 120mm case fans that would work. Ask some friends, they might too.

I'm the only one DIYing computers I know...
I think I'll go with surplus/equipment fans, since my local computer store is one of these guys selling the CM fan at NCIX for more than $15. They don't sell Arctic Cooling. I'll ask if I can try the fans at the surplus store, since they're the kind of place that selling used 10yo+ surplus. They've got nice dual ball bearing Papst fans there tho.(But they're making LOTS of motor noise) I think that they have some aluminum fans currently. They would look nice one shined.

Ever hear of the store Goodwill?
Don't know about elsewhere, but someone had the brilliant idea to open up a computer-only Goodwill store locally. They even repair/fix/test donated systems... That place is worse than CompUSA really, because everything is pretty cheap. Boxes upon boxes of printer ink for $1 each or toner, all possible kinds of case/chipset/computer fans... I try to avoid going there for obvious reasons. :P Infact both chipset fans I added to my DS3 board came from there, and I need to get a few more...

Goodwill looks like it's in USA only.

I'm sure you know this since you are modding a PSU, but make sure that the new fan pushes at least as much air as the stock fan.

2 things,
1 in ur first post you said you wanted a QUIET fan, the Stealth is ok but not really quiet.
2 shipping to Harry in England was like $8 so its gonna be a lot less than $25:grin:

markkleb do you happen to have any red LED 120mm fans you are willing to let go?

Sorry Werty, most of my fans were from before I knew about modding. So they are black.

I sent the fan out Air-Mail. LOL, it was $3.25...
I thought it was gonna be more to send stuff. When I sent the TV stuff to Harry in England it only took like 4 or 5 days to get there.
Kind of sad when I order stuff from Calif and it takes a week to get to me (I live in the next state over, Nevada)

Well, OK!

Dammit! :(
Maybe I'd just ask you to get a rounded IDE cable if you order from NewEgg and I'd pay you for both of them.
(Rounded cables cost around $15 here, and I just got a cheap Audigy 2 ZS Platinum drive today, but it's coming with a 40-pin(Great!) ribbon cable)

It was declared for $5, never UPS, USPS, DHL, FedEx or the customs would charge you this. Some start to charge you at $20, some $60, some just when they want, it also depends of what's shipped.
