XFX 7900GTX card Locking Up while playing

Hello there

I bought a XFX 7900GTX graphics card 4 months ago and I am having problems with games locking up. I am using Nvidia drivers 91.47, Nforce drivers 6.68, DirectX 9.0c. The card is not being overclocked and has not been modified in anyway, all settings are as standard.
I have also reinstalled the OS. I have even tried to underclock the Card by using Nvidia's Ntune utility but this has not helped. I have not run 3dMark on it yet, going to do that tonight.

I have logged a call on the XFX Support web site but I was wondering what you guys think. Also I was wondering with me only having the card for 4 months (i bought it in June), should I return the card to where I bought it from?

My pc specs are

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+
2gig Corsair XMS 3500
DFI Lan Party Expert Motherboard (BIOS upto date)
X-Fi Soundcard
Windows XP
Hyper Type R 580W Modular ATX2.2 PSU

Dear RS, There are many reasons that this could be happening. the first thing I would suspect is that the game may be having difficulty with the dual core. Please look for any patches for the games that address this. the other side is that you can set the affinity to a single core. In the task manager after you start the game but before you actually get in game.
