does a bunch of memory make folding faster?

As far as I know a faster CPU helps the most. More memory could help with accepting and seding in big WUs as the config suggests in the console version.

Allow receipt of work assignments and return of work results greater than 5MB in size (such work nits may have large memory demands)

Pretty sure it is a close match between clock speed and CPU type... Especially with F@H cores that utilize SSE instructions, since C2D's can chomp those twice as fast as any other chip out there.

F@H requires at least 64MB of RAM, but can utilize up to 512MB. Beyond having that available you will see no gain; most all of the work is CPU based.

I really don't think so. FAH hardly uses any memory. It's all about the crunching power.

I guess I should have got a dual core...thanks guys

Well, I saw cores taking 1MB to 50MB depending of the WU size and number of steps done.

mark, you have 1 GIG, you should survive.

Of course the thing that would help the most would be a shiny new ATI video card and the new GPU F@H client.
