One of my favorite features in the GUI version of the folding@home client is that you can set the percentage of CPU usage you want the folding to take up at any given time. This has been particularly useful in controlling heat output/noise of the computer, especially at night when I'm trying to sleep.

I've experimented a bit and haven't been able to get the same results out of the console version. Does anyone know if this is possible?

As far as I know you can't set a percentage in teh console version and the only options you can choose are "idle" and "low".

Try setting it to "low".

That won't do anything.

Reducing the percentage of processing power reduces Folding so why not just run the console during the day and shut it down when you sleep?

Yes, you can set the percentage. First do this:

Q: My configuration settings are wrong. How do I change my configuration?
A: First you must stop the service using the instructions from the question below. Next go to the "Start" menu, and open "Run". Browse to the FAH client you wish to configure, and then once it is listed in the "Open" box, add a " -config" after it and press enter. When you are done, you can close the window and start the service.

Then go through the advanced settings, where you can apply CPU percentage and RAM allocation.

When temperatures drop and my stingy landlord refuses to juice the heat, I want that sucker going 100% all night :p. You have a valid point though.

Thanks for the tip Das.
