If have a really slow system then you might as well just give up because it doesn't take me more then a minute to load back in after a crash. It is normal for it to crash but I think mines crashes more due to all the mods I have.

I have tons of mods now and its only crashed on me once because of ppl leeching stuff off of my HD at a LAN party.
First off what are your system specs?
Second off does it give you an error or just crash to the desktop?
These are things we need to know in order to try and help you solve your problem.
Oblivion is an excelent game just you have to have certain things in order to play it right.

Even though I never played through it, I never had a problem at all when runnning it to mess around in the game.
