Getting tired of the mis-info, so here it all is.

What does Company of Heros, Eve Online, Crysis, Alan Wake, Unreal Tournament 2007, Hellgate: London, BioShock, Flight Simulator X, Age of Conan, and Halo 2 have in common? They will all use or even require DX10.

Age of Conan - (w/patch)
Alan Wake - (DX10/Vista Required)
BioShock (Ships with dual-support)
Company of Heros - (w/patch)
Crysis - (Ships with dual-support)
Eve Online - (w/patch)
Halo 2 - (DX10/Vista Required)
Hellgate: London - (Ships with dual-support)
Flight Simulator X - (w/patch)
Unreal Tournament 2007 - (w/patch)

Obviously if a game requires DX10, then only Vista + DX10 graphics cards will support the game. Another thing to point out, is that Vista will NOT ship with DX10, and infact will ship with a back-compatible DX9 which is what the beta's currently use.

Wondering what the patches might do? If you like MS's Flight Simulator: DX9 (http://www.extremetech.com/image_popup/0,1694,iid=140846,00.asp) (This IS a screenshot) DX10: (http://www.extremetech.com/image_popup/0,1694,iid=140847,00.asp) (Not a screenie but is their goal through a patch  )

Here's and interview with Yerli, the guy behind Crysis: http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/200608/N06.0830.2058.31148.htm (http://www.gameinformer.com/News/Story/200608/N06.0830.2058.31148.htm)

GI: There’s been some confusion on someone who said that Crysis runs better on Windows XP and DX9 than Vista and DX10. Can you help clarify that?

Yerli: What I said was DX9 on Vista runs better than DX9 on XP. So if I have a gaming PC, and I’m comparing DX9 on XP versus DX9 on Vista, Vista runs better. The operating system is optimized for graphics drivers and optimized for gaming. It’s optimized for more controller functions – the game simply runs more smoothly. Just seeing Far Cry - it runs better. That’s a hell of an achievement because for me that’s reason enough to change operating systems. Also there’s a gamer score support, rich game saves, many game aspects supported. You can literally save your game and see a screenshot of that save in Explorer. That’s just fantastic.

For some sources, you can go here, which is also where the below quote is from: Games to have DX10 support (http://news.softpedia.com/news/What-Do-Crysis-Alan-Wake-UT2007-Flight-Simulator-X-EVE-Online-Hellgate-London-BioShock-Company-of-Heros-Age-of-Conan-Halo-2-and-Unannounced-Ritual-Title-Have-In-Common-37455.shtml)

Ritual Entertainment developer, formerly known as Hipnotic Interactive, is the company that is currently developing an “unannounced” project that will have DX10 support.

Edit: Found this, and will throw it in for the screenies ;) Confirmed DX10/SM4.0 Games (http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=1010840&postcount=1)

Nice post Kougar.

What a difference in the two screenshots. I understand that the DX10 isn't a true in game shot but if that's what they predict...the future looks bright for PC gamers.

I will let you all know what DX 10 looks like in about a month. I will have my copies of Vista before the end of the year and a DX 10 card in November.

Scott, I don't recall exactly, but MS was quoted something to the effect that DX10 was not shipping with Vista. It was due later "as an upgrade" or patch, possibly even a service pack, although with not quite that long of a delay. AFAIK none of the Vista RC's have any DX10 code in them and I don't know about the RTM builds either. :|

Ok well maybe I will not show you that next month, but I will show you some G80 lovin.

Freakin awesome. Bout time i can prove myself right to a bunch of idiots around my area. I KNEW DX10 was NOT shipping with Vista and will most likely start actualy shipping with it in the Ultimate edition around July of 2007. Ive been predicting that for so long now. Also, ive also been telling these idiots around here that Vista will of course support DX9 and DX9 cards ect ect. Whats awesome is alot of games have dual support either shipped or with a patch. Like ive been saying before (not here of course) DX is backwards compatible. Always have been, always will be. MOST of the features in 10 though will not be but like always you gotta deal with it.

Now these screenshots look good!

IMO the sky in Flight Sim X looks worse in DX10 than DX9, you normally don't see light rays in the sky(Unless the place is really dusty, but it looks quite clean), only lasers in movies look like this...

Nice visual differences between DX9 and DX10 and the water looks badass as well as Hellgate.

Yep there was news I posted earlier in the month stating Vista doesn't come boxed with DX10 as you have to download it in the future when its available.
So far, Microsoft only promised that Windows Vista will run DirectX 9.0, allowing to later upgrade it to DirectX 10 via Windows Update, the sources indicated.

The sky may not be up to par but look at the difference between the land in DX9 and DX10. The land looks amazing. Another amazing looking game is that Alan Wake game. Freakin crazy!

If we don't talk about that sky, yes, it's amazing. Just hoping that the real thing will look that good or better!

I'm looking forward to it!!

As for the sun rays, y'all don't see that anywhere? On heavily-overcast days we can see sunrays like that shining through gaps in the clouds here. Especially if there is alot of ozone or moisture in the air from a rainstorm. :)

Nope! I would probably haven't been reacting so much when seeing this if I would see them all the time.

Kougar has a point really. Ive seen them when we head into Dallas and its a hot muggy day with barely any clouds. Its sorta like all the heat is making the smog like dust. Kinda nasty if you ask me.

I think it has something to do with the O3 splitting back into O2 and O^2- (a reaction caused by UV light). Or it might be the O3 being formed out of O2 and OH- (for instance, it can be something else than OH- as well).
For those interested, these are the reactions that will filter out the bad UV frequencies (UVB and UVC if i'm not mistaken). Hence why the presence of O3 at high altitudes is so important.

Strange... So these light effects may be realistic depending of your location...

It can happen anywhere actualy. You can see them through clouds at certain times too. So yes, it is real. I just realized i have that picture saved for my dad. What they have in that picture is very real. That can happen anywhere if certain conditions are met. (i love weather)
