SORRY THIS IS A LONG POST BUT THIS SAGA HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME.

TICKET # 65384

[allan hook - 2006/09/18] The serial number for this card is HDH 125591. I kept getting rejected as I was putting S/N in front. My problem is I am getting coloured squares on the screen in some games. Namely Call of Duty 2, Gt legends and the beta of FSX. Pictures of these can be seen on http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10157 I have sent the card back to Novatech once but they said there was nothing wrong with it I must admit that the more glaring errors I had disappeared when I cleared out the drivers and started afresh but I am still getting errors in these three games.

[PAULV - 2006/09/19] Hi, thanks for your message and sorry to hear this. Unfortunately this may be due to a number of reasons. If possible please ensure that the power dongle is connected and that adequate power is supplied. Please remove all graphic card installations from add/remove programs. Restart with no driver CD inserted and not connected to the Internet, and then cancel the hardware wizard. Please ensure up-to-date mainboard chipset drivers are installed, you are logged on as an administrator and disable antivirus/diagnostic/monitoring software before installing the graphics drivers. We recommend setting BIOS optimal defaults, but note your IDE/SATA/RAID settings before changing the BIOS. Please avoid overclocking the card, the CPU or the PCI-E slot and ensure you have supplemental power leads to both the graphics card and the mainboard (where required). Also, please ensure you have installed up-to-date mainboard chipset drivers before the graphics drivers. Please try version 91.29 as this may clear problems. Please keep us posted if any problems as we will try to help as much as possible. Kind regards Paul

[allan hook - 2006/09/19] I have updated my chipset and bios but I cannot find 91.29 in the archive. All I can see are 91.47, 91.36 and 91.31. It then jumps back to 84**

[TONY - 2006/09/26] Hi, 91.31 should be fine, please keep us informed of your progres. Thanks Tony

[VINNY - 2006/10/02] Hi, this is just a quick note to ask how you are getting on with this issue? Have you managed to resolve the problem? Please keep us posted with your progress, with best regards, vinny

[allan hook - 2006/10/02] My last reply seems to have gone missing! Somebody on http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10157 kindly pointed me to the 91.29 which I loaded using the driver cleaner to make sure everything was deleted but it is still the same. The chipset is not overheating, it is about 43 c. but in the games I mentioned in the thread I am still getting squares. In fact Call of Duty 2 has reverted to having sqares around the smoke again, something that had cleared. There are several pictures on that thread which show what I am getting. Thank you for your interest, Allan

[PAULV - 2006/10/03] Hi, thanks for your message and sorry to hear you are experiencing problems with your product. unfortunately it would appear that the item is faulty, however please try the card in another system to verify this. If problems persist and we do recommend you to contact your supplier for information on the returns procedure. But if you have any difficulties with this, please let us know. Thanks Paul

[VINNY - 2006/10/09] Hi, this is just a quick note to ask how you are getting on with this issue? Have you managed to resolve the problem? Please keep us posted with your progress, with best regards, vinny

[allan hook - 2006/10/09] I am just waiting on my son`s machine to be put back together. (It`s missing a power lead to the mainboard) This is the one machine I will be able to run the PCI card on, I have been having issues with my computer, it kept freezing. I moved the memory around and it seems to have cured itself. I borrowed some memory that I know is OK but I am still getting problems with the graphics although it is not as marked at the moment even with my memory. So I shall have to wait on access to my son`s machine in order to prove the card one way or another. thankyou for your interest, regards, Allan

[TONY - 2006/10/10] Hi, thanks for the information and please keep us informed. Thanks Tony

[VINNY - 2006/10/16] Hi, this is just a quick note to ask how you are getting on with this issue? Have you managed to resolve the problem? Please keep us posted with your progress, with best regards, Vinny

[allan hook - 2006/10/18] I have just purchased Flight Simulator X and the squares are showing up randomly in this game. When I came out of the game the desktop had lots of raster type lines accross it. Would I be able to return the card direct to you as Novatech have told me that they will forward it on to you if it`s faulty and this will just mean that I am without a computer for a few more days. I will be going on a weeks holiday from 21 October so this would be a good rime for me to do it regards Allan

[TONY - 2006/10/19] Hi, sorry to hear you are having problems, did you manage try in another PC and can you please re-register the product correctly? Enter the serial number first and then `continue`, the product should then be automatically registered correctly. Thanks. Tony

(I THEN REREGISTERED THE CARD WHICH MEANT I HAD TO GREATE ANOTHER TICKET)

[VINNY - 2006/10/25] Hi, this is just a quick note to ask how you are getting on with this issue? Have you managed to resolve the problem? Please keep us posted with your progress, with best regards Vinny

Thank you very much for your help. I have now got a RMA ref. and I will be sending the card off tomorrow.
As a matter of interest I managed to get it installed in my sons computer and tried Call of Duty 2. The coloured squres were still there so it looks like the card.
Once again thank you. I'm afraid I was getting a bit frustrated with the whole business, hopefully it will now get sorted.
regards
Allan

I'm afraid to report that the rest of the process is anything but painless!
To summarize

[TONY - 2006/11/03] Hi, just to let you know we have received your card and will have some more information for you soon. Thanks. Tony

Having heard nothing I telephoned them at 60 pence a minute to be told it had passed their tests

[allan hook - 2006/11/14] My card has been with you for 11 days now. Could you please let me know when I might get a resolution to this problem. I telephoned your help desk on Thursday 2 November and they were unable to give me any information. I would appreciate any thing you can do as I am totally without my computer at home and having to rely on logging at my workplace which is not very convenient for me. regards, Allan

I phoned the 60 pence helpline again to be told the same thing. Luckily the guy on the phone was sympathetic to my pleadings and hurried them up. He asked me what games it failed on (something they knew already) and was able to get them to play it on one of those games.

[TONY - 2006/11/15] Hi, sorry for the delay, initila tests did not show any problems, but more extensive tests did result in failure and we are in the process of obtaining a replacement for you. Thanks Tony

[allan hook - 2006/11/21] It is now the 21 November and I have not received a replacement card yet. Could you please let me know when I am likely to get it?

[TONY - 2006/11/21] Hi, yes, we will be able obtain a replacement soon, just unsure on the exact date ata the moment, but will let you know as soon as I have more information. Thanks. Tony

[allan hook - 2006/11/21] If you are unable to supply me with a replacement can I have a refund and then I will be able to buy the card at a retailer who does have them in stock. I would like to repeat that without this card I am unable to use my computer at home which is proving extremely inconvenient. regards Alan

Well will it be here before Christmas? Who knows?
