The PVT73GUGD3 has VIVO (Video-in, Video-out) in addition to a black PCB.

The PVT73GUGD7 does not have VIVO, and uses the basic green reference PCB design.

I do have the PVT7GUGD3 but it doesnt have VIVO in it....? Is it maybe a card with newer bios?

Ah, you're right. It doesn't have VIVO, sorry for the mistake. :???:

The only different then is it is XFX's own design, the other one is based off nVidia's reference design. Even the clock speeds match otherwise.

There is no difference between the two video cards. The last number or letter in our Product number is a representation of the shipping and packaging options. For instance the PV-T73G-UGD3 may have been in a different box then the PV-T73G-UGD7 but they are they same video card. If they physically look different then they may be different Version numbers but still the same video card.

Ok thanks, but if they are of different versions, can i still use them in SLI disregarding their model numbers?

Yep, so long as you are matching up the same GPU's (IE: 2 7600GT's) you should be fine to run SLI.

Tomato is right on the money, as long as the video cards have the same Chipset then you can run them in SLI regardless of Version number.

i have both of these cards and can confirm that they work in sli. I am having a some problems though.

card 1 (may be ugd3) has a bios version 5.73.22.15.14
card 2 (ugd7?) has a bios version 5.73.22.51.11

when they run in 3d mode card 2 begins heating up to 190F while card 1 stays at about 145F (same as idle). I sometimes have problems in games when card 2 heats up the screen starts blinking on and off and the system hangs. Other times it works fine.

Other than the artwork and the color of the fans the cards appear identical. I could see the different fan causing the heat-up but what is causing the system to hang? Could it be related to the bios version mismatch? or could it be the temperature difference causing the trouble?

Also, is there a way to flash a video bios? I've never heard of it being done.
