Bf 2142

Well i have it now and to be honest im not impressed. Same graphics engine, in game advertising, and theres not alot you can do. We tried playing it at our LAN party last night and nobody really had fun at all. We went back to Battlefield 2.

tried it at my friends house and not only are the graphics lame, i absolutely HATE futuristic games with plasma guns and such, turn me off

EA decided to make a game playable on every computer, and in doing so they resorted to low end graphics and fewer details. Have you noticed the lack of trees and bushes? Grass is gone completely.

pretty effing lame, i bet their excuse is that in 2142 there wont be any greenery anymore:ahhhhh: anyways i know people (non-gamers who still like video games) that think its REALLY realistic, depends on the person:wink:

No they actualy put MORE detail in the game and the grass and crap i didnt notice. Most of the levels are snowy/concrete/battle ridden so i never noticed no trees. I just hated the fact that its the same graphics engine as Battlefield2 and that you can do LESS than Battlefield2. 4 single player maps? 4 co-op maps? What kinda crap is that? They need to realize not everybody can play online. I never noticed any plasma guns though :/ so uhh, dont know what your talking about. I thought the mechs where cool though cause i like Mechwarrior.

Why? Have you even tried them? I used to hate BFMEII until i made myself play it then i learned to like it.

I know i dont like those things. Smoking makes my house yellow (8 years of it makes it look piss yellow), smells nasty, costs alot of money, ect ect. Drugs, depending on what, same thing.

Yep, Quake and Halo games are dumb, Batelfield is ok I guess, I played it for like 2 weeks, but now I don't feel like palying it anymore.

I like them all pretty much, except for Halo...just never really cared for it for some reason. FEAR is a lot of fun for just your run and gun game. I like 2142, but I think I still like BF2 better. While I like the futuristic stuff, I still prefer modern day weapons and such.

Lol thats what my best friend was complaining about. Hes like man i payed all this for these 2 and now they are cheaper together. And yet i only payed 40 bucks for 2142 brand new.

i personally would still rather play cs source or cs 1.6 moere than bf2 or any of this new-gen games not because of my rigs capabilities its just that cs feels more teamworkish, but ive quit gaming down to 1 hour a week and i usually test my dads susper SLI rig with FSX

I really liked the series of battlefield, I finished Battlefield 1942 and i had a lot of fun playing it...
Too bad that this one is not good, I had a lot of expectations from it, although The game looked very good when i saw pictures of it...
Anyway, i've got games to play for now... so no need to be excited from this game, i guess that there are a lot of other games that are much better than Battlefield 2142...

Like Battlefield 2? Lol. Play that one. I LOVED 1942 and Desert Combat. BF2 takes the best out of both, adds more, and has better graphics.

I still play 1942, although its modded heavily. I love BF2 mods, hate vanilla. But I gotta say that I will not buy 2142. The betas sucked, its only a mod of BF2 that you have to pay for. Booooo 2142, oh and the ad thing just pisses me off. They make enough money writing games that are buggy, and easy to hack - instead of spending time writing in some spyware, they should have focused on not having to patch within a week of release. Its like they learned nothing from the complaints on BFV or BF2.

I'm just curious if you own the game? I have to literally look for the ads to see them, I'm usually too busy in a firefight to pay attention to any scenery. Look, it pisses me off that they do it, but honestly it doesn't detract from the game so it doesn't annoy me. And while I'm all about going against big corps, the costs of developing games and getting their money back for them is getting difficult, so if this helps than so be it. Plus, from what I understand you can just block the port that the ads use in the game anyways through your router.

I LOVED Battlefield 1942, i guess that it's not too late to try Battlefield 2, i'll probably love it too! :-)

No I do not own it. I tried both beta's and hated both of them. Sure there were some good things, but mostly didn't feel like a new game - rather it felt like a mod of BF2 and it had a lot of the problems we complained about in BF2. I am sure people have fun playing 2142, but it is not a whole new game and does not command $50. Maybe $10 as an xpack. Thats it.

The ads thing is an invasion of privacy. Sure you can block it, but why should I - I already paid for the game, and bandwith is limited.

Please don;t tell me you buy into the whole "we need these ads to help pay for R&D" crap. This is a multi-billion $$ industry that EA has a majority share of - look at all the money they make off of Xbox and PS alone! My GOD man are you kidding? No one is hurting over at EA except the poor customer survice reps.

Oh and I could care less if they are a mega corportation. I will buy from anyone who puts out a quality product. They did it before they were mega, that's how they got there, and they can do it again if they stop being greedy and focus on what quality got them there in the first place.

Hmm after reading some of this i saw the "block port" saying. HA! I cant block anything if im not connected to interwebz!! There is blatantly a huge Intel ad IN game that i DID see during a firefight! If you want ill take a screeny. And i totaly agree with the guy above me.

As for BF2, if you patch to 1.3 then it freakin ROCKS!

Ands to that person who said that there were already billboards in game, that is fine when they are static and don't use my bandwith or spy on me. Most of the billboards and signs are blurry, and others - like in the mods are hiliarious. Like in NAW, one of the NAW members has his own topless bar - so his name is on the sign outfront of the building. Also some make fun of EA, so I can deal with that - that is creative and entertaining, yet not spying and adding extra code that really does not add to the entertaing experience of the game.

I was the one that said the in game billboards are CRAP. I also started this thread because of it. I dont want to be going down a realistic (sort of) street and turn around during a fire fight and see a huge Intel banner. Sorry, that is very displeasing in a game to me. Im pretty sure in BF2142 they arent using Core 2 Duos.

hahah, thats pretty funny PP Mguire. But honestly the only ads I have seen in game are Intel ads, so I'm not too sure how well its "spying" on me.

Well i dont play it online so i dont know about any of that spying crap. I do know that i know of 2 banners that are in game without being online.
