So who has seen it? I saw it and enjoyed it. It was good to see a real Bond without all the gadgets.

So what did you think about the new Bond?

I want to see it based on the previews and stuff, it looks really good! I still don't understand why they couldn't just dye his hair black though? How hard would that be compared to the stunts?

My real beef with that is if the actor won't let his hair be dyed, that bodes ill for Bond's face scar (read the books!). :| Oh well.

It looks like it is good based on the trailers and that is makes up for the previous new bonds movies.

I'l watch it evetually but probably when its on DVD.

I don't know why they didn't dye his hair, I'm just assuming it's a star actor thing. :)

I've got all the James Bond novels as far as I know, but I'm not a fanatic... I guess this actor makes Bond much more of a brute, like he should be, short, athletic, with a lot of battle scars to show he's more of a killer than a brilliant spy. And he spends all his meagre spy pay on fast cars and fast women.

I really don't think we'll ever see that particular Bond on film, that would be too antiheroic... I guess the real test of this new Bond will be when they remake the movie with Blofeld in the Alps... Forgot the name, but most of the action is on skis. After all, Bond is half Swiss, so if the actor can't ski, forget it. :)

I think I'm rambling, it's late.

Bond is supposed to be sly and a real spy. Not a brute Rambo wannabe.

I've heard only good or great things about Casino Royale... I just might have to catch it in the theatre, rather than wait for the dvd release... I loves me some good old Bond :)

I liked it. Nice to not have everything wrapped around gadgets like it's become for a change... they reintroduced the human element into the movie. ;) Good plot, and plenty of little clues to pick up on.

I think the product placement was borderline on being excessive though, some of the shots were glaring, and obviously chosen just for the logos... and definitely he would have looked the part if he at least had black hair. :-P

Well, not if you read the books. He sees himself pretty much as a policeman with extra rights and duties (In fact he says that pretty literally in hm... The Spy who Loved me? The most boring one). In fact as far as I can remember he manages long-term covert identity and infiltration in only 3 or 4 of the stories, so, not so sly. I'm not saying he should be Rambo, but he is a commando (SAS or something?). Ian Fleming got his inspiration from someone he knew that was a commando...

So yes, he can be sly and clever at times, but quick to violence. Anyways... I'm not a Bond scholar, I just think the movie Bond is a completely different character than the book Bond.

Going to see Casino Royale tonight! I will go in with somewhat low expectations, but all of the hype is getting to me... I just hope I'm not disappointed :(
