My Asus box often runs for a week at a time because its main use is as a HTPC/video server and just gets left running so it can cap the TV for me, I have been using 'BootStatus.exe' but there is a very good uptime tool with the AutoPatcher things.

I like HyperSnap, but it is payware, but very good (if not the best) for screen grabs and working with them for tech support and that sort of thing.
But as said, IfranView is a very good freeware alternative, Sigis Screen Capturer (http://sourceforge.net/projects/sigissc/) is another good, but very basic screen cap tool (open source).

Wasn't there another one of these threads already somewhere, less than a week old?

Anyway Vista has a uptime listed in it's Task Manager. Windows XP Pro users can run "systeminfo" from a CMD prompt and get it that way. Going on 29 days uptime now... only have a 1gb in this computer too, but plenty of RAM free. I don't use any RAM cleaning programs either, and I always leave several things and F@H running in the background...

I also have an old P4 F@H box I've neglected in a back room that's I think 4 days behind this one. The rig in my sig is currently in lots of various pieces thanks to a review, so I can't brag any on that one... ;)

Nope! I disabled the constant popups asking to reboot, and disabled the forced reboot XP will attempt to do after so many dialogs are closed without rebooting. These options are available to XP Pro users, but not XP Home. Pro users can open a CMD prompt and type in gpedit.msc...

Windows Defender updates don't require a reboot anyway, and so far I don't recall having installed any updates that prompted for a reboot yet, unless I forgot about them... ;) Currently at 30 days, 4 hours.

I already told ya how in my above post! ;) Since it's a mess to find the right section though, here ya go...

Run gpedit.msc. Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update. Disable "Reprompt for restart with scheduled installations", and Enable "No auto-restart for scheduled Authomatic Updates installations".

As I said about GPedit.msc, it is only available to XP Pro users but will let you configure a good deal of the OS, including things like the shutdown menu and buttons on the Start menu, and so on. Usually for options that can't be set elsewhere or without some serious registery editing.

Sure, just be careful as if you install some updates, you DO need to restart otherwise problems will occur. I'm a month behind on some recent patches now because of it, but they aren't major. I don't let any updates install without my express consent so I don't need to worry about this happening.

It's still going strong, 34 days 9 hours, 25 minutes... This one is my overclocked Northwood P4 rig, 2.8ghz @ 3.3ghz, not that it helps much anymore. ;)
