This isn't going to make for a very fast card at all, maybe Nvidiai is trying to force folks folks into high-end cards by this marketing tatic??????

Nvidia's GeForce 8800-series graphics cards have generously wide memory buses, but their upcoming mainstream siblings may end up being a little more bandwidth-constrained. According to a report by VR-Zone, GeForce 8600 cards will have 128-bit-wide memory buses (http://vr-zone.com/?i=4498), just like their GeForce 7600- and GeForce 6600-series predecessors.
The site says Nvidia will introduce two GeForce 8600 models: a GeForce 8600 GT with a 650MHz core clock and 900MHz memory and a GeForce 8600 GS with 550MHz core and 700MHz memory clocks. Both models will have 64 stream processors, a 128-bit memory bus, and 256MB of GDDR3 RAM. Those specs contradict previous rumors (http://www.techreport.com/onearticle.x/11631), and they suggest the two cards will only have 28.8GB/s and 22.4GB/s of memory bandwidth—pretty low considering the GeForce 7900 GS has 42.2GB/s.

That would be pretty stupid IMHO, and I'd have to wager this one is FUD.

According to the previous info, it is 256bit. Kind of pointless to make a 512mb RAM 8600 if it is using a 128bit memory interface! They'd be leaving the door wide open for ATI to best them for the entire mid-range market. http://www.nordichardware.com/news,5442.html (http://www.nordichardware.com/news,5442.html)

Guess we'll just have to wait till Nvidia comes out with their offical release of the specs.
Just read this morning of some spec rumors of the ATI cards (top 4) and they all should all should be great preformers........;)

Gotta be a fake report... no way that NVidia would be that stupid, especially with the new ATI cards on the horizon...

Acht, got a link to those spec rumors? Dunno if I'd pay attention to the specs so much as just curious about the names, I don't have a clue what they plan to use yet. Since ATI is using more powerful/complex shaders comparing shader #s across platforms would be futile I think anyway...

I wouldn't believe this news on the 8600 cards just as much as those so-called R600 benches that are out; until the G84(8600) cards are out, I believe nothing.

The INQ has a plurge on the R600 but then again this comes from The INQ.

Safe bet is that the picture is a XFX 8300GT. I am sure the 8600Ultra will be a bigger card, and actually have 1 PCIe power connector on it.

Thanks for the link Werty :) After reading that now I'm going to go fix lunch...

I meant the little uhhh, graph table thing. I already figured the picture was an 8300GT, but that site has a picture of one of the cards, this one dosent. This dosent seem legit, or even close to legit. 8600ultra FTW.

This has to be a bad report, because why would they make a almost same video card with just directx10 if there was the 7600 which had the same speed. This is wierd.
