Excerpt: "I should first point out that the Foxconn 975X7AB-8EKRS2H is fully Core 2 Duo ready. Foxconn has a previous product titled, you guessed it, 975X7AA-8EKRS2H, that is not compatible with Core 2 Duo processors, so hence the “B” in the “975X7AB”. To recap, the board we have in this review is the “AB” product refresh/update with the needed changes having been made to the voltage regulator and BIOS."

I see ya also posted in the FOXCONN tech support forum, but I would still suggest ya create your own thread next time otherwise your post will most likely get missed.

First go to your Add/remove programs area and find those audio drivers you attempted to install, then remove them and restart.

Once done then go here: LINK (http://www.foxconnchannel.com/service/downloads.aspx?Model=975X7AB-8EKRS2H&DownID=en-us0000004) You must download and install the "Intel on board Audio Driver for 32bit" first, this is a chipset level sound driver. After that restart, then install the "Realtek ALC 888 (HDA) driver.", and restart one more time. Your sound should work fine then. :)

Same situation regarding the LAN, you must install the Intel chipset LAN driver first, only then install the Realtek LAN driver ontop of that. :icon_tiphat:

Foxconn uses really LOOOOOONG names for their boards lol.
I was thinking about getting this 680i board from foxconn

Well, each letter/number actually represents a board feature. So while the name is useful, nobody actually knows what the name stands for unless they have a manual infront of them... Even then it doesn't fully explain the entire name.

That is a peculiar NB windtunnel heatsink, but it looks effective. FOXCONN has been working on improving their website & support, and their boards can be very good all around as they certainly have the know-how for building a good board. That said that board is fairly new, I don't recall seeing any reviews on it yet. Any new board from any manufacturer will come with a few bugs in the BIOS. ;)

I'm not sure that 'Core 2 Duo compatible' for the 975X7AB mobo is entirerly true. I am trying to get a system working with a Core 2 Duo CPU E6850 and it don't want to work. I followed the quote 'Core 2 Duo compatible' without researching fully and find that Foxconn do not endorse this CPU (after buying it!). The complete system has an MSI NX8600GT graphics card with 2GB of Kingston KVR533D2N4K2 ram and all I can get is the 'faulty memory' beep. Any thoughts? Howdy, I'm sorry you are having issues with this motherboard.

The E6850 processor you have is a newer Intel processor that uses a 1333 FSB, so in effect you are correct. The review was written almost a year before Intel launched FSB 1333Mhz processors, otherwise I could have been more specific. The 975X chipset itself was never designed for FSB 1333 processors.

If you check their website (Link (http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Motherboards/detail_overview.aspx?ID=en-us0000184)) or the product specs table in the review they state only FSB 1066, 800, and 533 processors are supported.

Unfortunately the only way I see to fix this would be to exchange the CPU for a FSB 1066 or 800 processor, or go with a newer motherboard that supports FSB 1333 CPUs. If you wish I could try to help you find a new board or CPU that fits your needs and would work with your specific hardware.

Nice MB but I think one of the questions on a lot of enthusiasts gamer's minds, esp after hearing of Nehalem's integrated quad architechture coming late this year, is will Intel ever make an SLI compatible MB in an affordable price range. So far we've only heard of the elite class Skulltrail which doesn't fit a very large market niche. SLI support to the mainstream gaming public is the one of the only missing links in what we've been hearing about for Intel chipset developements. I can't help but feel much of what you're paying for in these higher end Intel chipset MBs is the Crossfire 16x x 16x support that many won't likely use. In fact even the Skulltrail has some shortcomings. From Intel's PDF I read on it the Pci Ex is only version 1.1 vs 2.0. These are crucial factors when you're shelling out big bucks for a MB.

Hey Frag... do keep in mind this motherboard was released back in 2006, based directly off the 975XAA version which is even older and didn't support Core 2 Duo's at all! ;) This used to be a $250 board, it can now be had for $80 new at Newegg last I checked... and as one guy found out it doesn't work with FSB 1333 processors.

As far as Intel and SLI goes... Intel does whatever it wants to. If they don't want to license SLI from Nvidia then they are not going to, which I agree does frankly suck! :(

The only reason Intel's Skulltrail offers SLI is because Intel bought Nvidia chipsets and used them on Skulltrail, which is how they got around the SLI licensing problem.

This is strange, I would have said yes because the Q6600 is a 1066FSB processor, however they do not officially list QuadCore support on their website or in the motherboard manual. Furthermore Foxconn now lists the 975X7AB-2.0 motherboard on their website, which is a slightly different design that does specifically list support for Quads up to 1066FSB. They appear to have changed the digital PWM, in addition to a few other electrical changes such as solid-caps.

The good news is I don't think that is your problem. Google finds a great deal of other users getting the same error on all sorts of programs and different computers/laptops. It would appear to be a Vista issue, however this board does officially support Windows Vista.

I would suggest you go into the BIOS, and on the "Integrated Peripherals" screen you will see "HPET Support" listed. Is this set to disabled for you? It must be ENABLED, and it must be set for 32 or 64-bit mode depending on if you use 32 or 64-bit Vista. The motherboard does not let you specify which setting to use I believe, but if it does then make sure to set it correctly to the version of Vista Ultimate you use. Let us know if that fixes it for ya...
