I have a dual core processor and I am using the Graphical Folding & Home program. Is is possible to use both cores to do the calculation? I read that in the standard one you can do that but haven't heard anything about the graphical version. Is is possible? The graphical version seems to work better for me than the other. :?:

Just read the Folding@Home FAQ thread here: http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9230
I don't think you can use both cores with the graphical version; one reason why the console version is better.

When using two F@H programs you must differentiate them by assinging them a number, "1-8" in this case. The graphical client has no ability for you to do this, only the console client does.
Last I had checked it was only possible to run two console versions at once.

Ok I have a little problem here. When I start the program it will say that "could not connect to work server (results). I am currently folding my 2nd project and it is at 5600 to 20000. Now I read some other forums and people's suggestions on this, but could not resolve the issue. I downloaded this program from folding & home that should fix this problem but didn't work. It is called "Qfix". There is another solution for this but I don't want to try it, because the person who had this problem said that he had lost 3 of his WU's like that. So what should I do? :help:

Try closing the window and reopening the app.

Sometimes there are just connection problems. I would leave things alone for a while, it'll keep trying to send the results and I'm sure they'll make it eventually.

Try closing the window and reopening the app.
I have tried that several times but did not help.

You are getting a 503 error right? Not sure if the GUI version tells you. This is usually because the specific F@H server you are trying to send the results to is down. In which case, the best you can do is let it run until it connects to the server or defaults and sends the completed results to a backup server, at which point the backup server holds your completed WU until the offline server comes back up. If this happens don't expect the results from your WU to show up for a bit. ;)
I've had this happen one or two nights ago with one of my WUs, so maybe we had the same server. It doesn't happen that frequently, but it does occur.

I am so mad, I my computer was working on a WU for days now, and I have lost everything. Since the day I stated having the problem with the connection to their server it did not change, and when the WU finished it said that it could not send the results, and then nothing. It started an another project. I have lost everything and it didn't even send it. It was a 500point WU. :frown:
I had a backup of it in a different folder, but that disappeard too. :frown:

Unless you completely moved everything, F@H doesn't remove completed WUs. It'll eventually give up and try to connect to a general server and pick up a new WU to do for awhile before it begins to retry to send the old completed WU.
This may not work on the GUI client, but it works on the console version: If you think it has not sent the completed WU yet, then close it down. Right click the shortcut -> "Properties". In the "Target field click once, hit the "END" key on your keyboard, then type in "-send all" without the quotes. Save and close the box, then run the shortcut. On the console version this will start the program, instruct it to send all completed WUs it is holding, then close itself down. After it is closed you need to remove the "-send all" flag for it to resume folding normally. Again, I only know it works on the console version for sure, but it's worth a try.

Thanks for the info, but the wierd thing is that it disappeard from the folder, so I don't have any finished WU in the folder anymore.

Well, I'd venture to say it got sent off then while it was in the middle of the new WU. Give it a few days for the server to come back up to process the thing, I can't imagine the GUI program working differently than the console... ;)

I checked the server on the stanford website and it says that it is online. Take a look. 171.65.103.100.

Well then if your WU doesn't show up then I really don't know what to say. Next time this occurs don't repetitively close the program though more than once... I do know that if the WU is corrupted or the program thinks it's corrupted then it will delete the WU completely, but that's the only case I know that it would do so.

Yay, I have my second certificate! It is really slow, but it still helps. Now I am already like 15% into my third WU. :keepfolding: guys. :icon_tiphat:
