It is now time to raise our heads, look forward into the distance and try to figure out what the future holds for us and what we should expect to see on our screen in 2007."

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is something I've been wanting for a loooong time, Hellgate: London I won't be getting because of the online fee for multiplayer, UT3 -- DUH, SPORE :D:D:D:D:D, I'll probably get Crysis for my 360 instead of pc.

Really good review, but are they going to have racing games though?

Thanks guys!

...Hellgate: London I won't be getting because of the online fee for multiplayer...
The fee is taken for the MMO part only!
Don't mix that up with the "regular" multiplayer mode and of course, the great single mode...

Really good review, but are they going to have racing games though?
There are a few, but not good enough to fit in the list.
TrackMania United, Test Drive Unlimited, Dirt: Colin McRae Off-Road...

Like always, GREAT work pym!!!

I really enjoyed reading this article of yours. WELL DONE!!! :icon_tiphat:

Nowadays, there are plenty of articles about the most-anticipated games for 2007, but NONE of them is good and detailed as this one. ;-)

I perosonally really looking forward to see/get/play the following games:
S.T.A.L.K.E.R, Bioshock, Half Life 2: Episode 2, Spore, Crysis and of course, my most-anticipated game: ALAN WAKE!!!

Great article Pym! That was some good reading. :)

Was curious though... Judging by the lack of comment/inclusion of Alan Wake in your 2007 article, I assume you consider the undenied rumor that the game was pushed back to 2008 to be false? Last I heard Remedy refused to comment on it, which is never a good thing to hear when hoping for a "no"... Also you didn't even mention the game won't run on single core CPUs, and will best run on QuadCores!

Not to surprising to hear that almost every game is aiming for true to life AI/enemies, but great to hear Episode Two will also include them. When you mentioned the physics puzzel I remembered... Remember the HL2 derived game Portals? And that it was so popular Valve was even going to give it use in part of their upcoming game? I have the distinct impression you just found out which part... ;)

Spore also looks great... I thought it was only going to be a console game though?? I hadn't heard alot of what you said about Crysis either, I might just have to try that game... :) And lastly, the Jericho you mentioned wouldn't happen to be related to the TV show would it? I'd be happier to hear they were making a game from Eureka...

Thanks a lot, guys !!!

About your questions, Kougar...

I want to believe Alan Wake WILL be released during 2007, let us pray...
About the single core limitation, I prefered to look at the game and what it brings and not its technical issues (maybe I should have mentioned it...) ;)

You MUST try Crysis out, should be breathtaking...
It is, with no doubt, the most beautiful game that you will come across this year (and more).

Jericho is a horror action game, story by Clive Barker!
I love those horror games, and this one sure look promising.
No connection to the series "Jericho" there, (heard it's quite good by the way).

Hehe, I'm hoping it's not been pushed back too! I just tend to believe the source though, since it wasn't later denied... And I don't view the hardware requirements for Alan Wake to be an issue as so much as a fascinating, attention getting fact to throw around! It'll become a fairly commonplace thing within 2 years I'd bet, but for right now... :)

Going a bit OT, I've seen half of the first season of Episodes for Jericho... it is good, if a little typical in the drama storyline/plot I think? I'm a bigger fan of Eureka honestly! :)

Oh, and back on topic! I am not sure if this is big or even "new" news, but... The Supreme Commander Demo is out (http://arstechnica.com/journals/thumbs.ars/2007/2/6/6926) for DL. ;)

Supreme Commander is gonna come out Feb 22nd. Saw the thing in Wal Mart. Is that gonna be another MechWarrior?

Also, is there gonna be a DX10 Elder Scrolls 5?

Hey PP Mguire,

As far as I know, Supreme commander will be out on Feb 20th (indicated on Wal Mart as well). About MechWarrior, it is not even close since Supreme Commander is a RTS game and not a Sim game.

A next-gen Elder Scrolls has still not been officially announced.
All we can do is speculate on this subject.
I guess the people at Bethesda are working hard on Fallout 3 as well, so if Elder Scrolls V is in the works, we won't see it released on 2007, that's for sure ;)

My dad at Wal Mart was raving about it being another Mechwarrior or something and i didnt know it was an RTS to tell him otherwise. So yea, all well.

As to Elder Scrolls5 i cant wait. I like the Edler Scrolls games. Always fun to me for some reason.

More Episode Two news... :frown: They'd better be making it close to a full game in length this time, if it's another 4-6 hours long despite the year+ delay, they will to lose interest in Episode Three.

By episodic, they probably meant more "Star Wars" and less "24"

Originally thought to be released during Q1 2007, then moved to summer, EA and Valve have issued an official press release saying that Half-Life 2: Episode Two will be seeing a release during the fall months. Specifically, the game companies announced the naming and product configurations in which HL2: E2 will be delivered: the “Black Box” and “Orange Box.”

The Black Box will ship for the PC, and includes Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2. The Orange Box will ship for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and includes all the content of the Black Box, plus the original Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One. The description from the PR follows:

As long as it looks good thats all i really care about. I was never into the whole HL story anyways. Bring on Crysis!

Half Life started it all, including the whole "physics" thing we have today... I bet within 2 years of launch we'll be seeing people using the new "portals" concept as well in games. Eye candy is nice, but without substance it's simply not enough! :)

Pym: I want to congratulate you on your article. While nothing is official, your article drew nearly 40,000 reads in only four days. From my experience, that has been the most reads any article has received in such a short amount of time. You're on a roll!

Pym, you were always an excellent writer with your reviews you did for us here in the forums. I think it's becoming pretty obvious everyone else likes your work too now that they're given a chance to see it more readily. Good job!

What about Enemy Territory: Quake Wars? This is definitely a hyped game, and one that I, and a lot of others are looking forward to.

I think the Quake genre has run it's course. Q4 was a flop IMHO, so it would take a whole lot more for me to ever find interest in this series again.

Quake4 was a flop cause of the Doom3 engine, and the lame Doomish shadows and gameplay TBH.

I can't beleive it. I thought nearly 40K in four days was good. The total page view count is now up to 73927 in under one week. Might want to go back make sure you said everything you needed to with so many reads.

This next best read count belongs to Miles' Antec SOLO review with 97548 page views released 07/14/06 here: http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=937
