Nvidia plans DirectX 10 cards for AGP slot
NVIDIA'S GEFORCE 7600 GS, its AGP card, will get a new follower, cleverly codenamed G84 AGP.
This card will be a Direct X 10 chip aimed at AGP upgrade market, as you have not been able to buy new AGP systems for a while now. It is an interesting choice as but shows the value of this legacy market. The card is scheduled for April and this means that AGP upgrade market will get a DirectX 10 after all.

If they can't handle their driver situation now, adding more cards to the pile that require unique driver builds certainly isn't going to help!
This might prove to be a boon though if they do pull something like this off.

This will be excelent for everybody i know of that has AGP machines. AGP really isnt all that bad, just no SLI. Thats why alot of gamers dont like it.

i think they should just give it up with agp even though im still using it its a waste of time and money to manufacture all the new cards and drivers

Nah. You gotta realize there is still a huge market left on AGP. Im guessing if Nvidia dosent make a DX10 card on AGP then ATI will follow up and get the monies.

Exactly.I also agree with u in that.Nvidia can't ignore AGP coz many people have bought the socket 754 & the Socket 939 CPUs not many days ago. They might require the DX10 GPUs for their rig but in no way they will consider buying a new mobo,a new CPU , new memories & maybe even a new PSU just to make use of a new PCIE DX10 GPU.They will instead stick to their current AGP & if ATI releases any DX10 AGP,they will simply buy only that GPU but they won't be able to afford or rather want to upgrade their whole rig just to use the DX10.We can call ourselves hardcore gamers but what about the others ? How many people really care about spending so much in their PCs excluding ourselves ? They just stay happy with their current rig & they won't mind upgrading only the GPU,but the whole rig update ? No,chance at all.So, AGP is right here & it will stay as long as it can.

Its like my dad says, as long as they continue to release decent hardware got AGP, i will stick with my SocketA system, 2gig of DC ram, and w/e video card i can get. So right now he has 2gig PC3200, 7800GS, A-XP 2600+ and a Shuttle AN35N nF2 Ultra-400 lol. He plays GRAW almost maxed. (For some reason it wont auto detect to "high" on the video for SM3.0????)

Though I've won a 7950GT,as u know but i'm still using my Athlon XP system & my Athlon XP is the same as ur dad has,the 2600+ Barton. My motherboard is a rather popular Asus A7N8X-Deluxe with 512 MB of PC3200 & a Geforce 6200 AGP.Yes, u can laugh & that sucks even more when I see at my 7950GT.You know brother, how it's painful to me to play games with an XFX 6200.But I've thought of something new. When i start playing games with my 6200,I keep my 7950GT just above the PC cabinet & i feel that I'm getting a hell lot of FPS more. What to do, like i've said in my previous post i don't have the money to upgrade my entire rig coz it involves buying a new CPU,new memories & a new mobo. So, i'll have to stick to this AGP solution untill my bank balance grow up a bit but that's not gonna happen anytime soon but I always loved to win/get a new device for my PC.

With a directx10 agp card i can stick with my current rig for a little while longer upgrading is to hard for me i just don't have the money college takes all my money right now. So this new card would be nice after they fix all the driver issues.

This is a smart move as not all users are using PCIe.

It's nice to see that they are thinking about backwards compatibility. But I don't think that the DX10 AGP cards will be on the market for a long period. I mean eventually it will become burdensome to release a pci-e version and an agp version.. I mean don't get me wrong here I think it is a great idea to win over that market share that use AGP but eventually it will be phased out just like everything else.
