Yes, just today I've won a new MSI 975x Platinum Powerup edition mobo. It's MSI's flagship 975x board which also
supports Crossfire & ViiV but I'm planning to put those two 8800GTS cards in those slots which Scott will give
me this month.
MSI was always a lucky charm for me.Previously i've won a Centrino laptop from MSI & this time
a super 975x mobo.I've got it in just the right time coz i was unable to afford a new rig. This new
mobo will certainly make my upgrade path from my current Athlon XP 2600+ to a C2D a lot easier.
The contest was hosted on the Tomshardware.com sponsored by MSI.
Here is the winner's list published today on MSI's global site :-

Some pics for u guys :-

4. The Board itself.Isn't the color combination nice ? :-

5.The I/O port :-

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This board is well priced for a 975x board but it doesn't come with the following things :-
1. Optical Audio port.
2. E-Sata ports.
3. Dual Gigabit Lan ports.
Other than these 3 things this board does have everything.I believe these 3 things are not there to cut costs but they r not necessary for me either.
This board has also got an Toms Hardware Editor's Choice award for performance.

Congrats on the win....only one problem with putting 2 8800 cards in the board, Nvidia cards will not work for a crossfire setup. To use 8800 Nvidia cards, you'll need a SLI compatible MoBo. You'll have to go out and buy some ATi cards to make use of CrossFire................;)

Thanks liqnit & Bio.
No, Bio it'll work. Some un-official drivers are making it work on non-SLI chipsets.By using these drivers, u can SLI on any board. It can be a 945x,955x,965 or 975x.All u need is two PCI-E slots of 16x or 8x & u'll be ready to go SLI.Many of my friends are using SLI on Crossfire boards with no problems.I too have already downloaded this driver for my friends here & it's workin' on non SLI chipsets.
Nvidia has added some SLI compatibility in the driver files & those features from the driver file get enabled when u use two nvidia cards only in SLI boards but un-official drivers has some edited files in them which get activated & will let u run SLI when they find two identical GPUs even if that mobo isn't SLI compatible.Do u know that recently i came to know that u can even SLI by putting two completely different cards ? For instance SLI b2in a 6600 & a 7900 ? Ya,it's also possible & this can't be fake coz this has been reported in Nvidia's own official forum.
So,to run SLI on any chipset,u only need to have two PCI-E 16x/8x slots. That's it.
You can read my post here if u want this info in detail :-

Well if you like running hacked software you can do anything you want just about........;) It's sort of like volt modding something, it's not for me, my data and hard ware is worth more than that........:)

How can u compare this with volt-moding ? Volt-moding is i think more hardware based & this thing is totally safe coz using this only involves editing a single driver file which will no way affect ur data & other hardwares for sure.Everybody care about their data & their hardwares alike. But, its upto u afterall & u know better what is safe for ur PC.

Congrats Sushrukh! It's a nice board :)
I think Sbrehm's point is that any unofficial or modified drivers you can find to allow SLI on that board, will only work under XP. To use SLI with DX10 under Vista you will likely be out of luck. ;)

Congratulations on the win Sushrukh. I hope you enjoy the prize. BTW, where are you going to get a SLI Connector? Where can you buy those. Is it posible to buy them?

Congrats on the board and as for the contest, don't count your chickens just yet ;)
You can get SLi connectors on ebay.

Thanks Kougar,Peti & Werty.I donno if i'll buy any SLI connector or not coz I've heard that the hacked drivers don't need the SLI bridge to work but there will be some performance decrease if not using that bridge.I've to find that SLI Bridge now on Ebay.Donno what will cost it though.
And Kougar, ya to SLI this board, I will stick to dual booting.I've already installed Vista & XP on my HDD.So, when i need to play games, i'll boot to XP.The rest of my works (except gaming) will be done using Vista but i'm also looking for a new un-official driver that will work in Vista too coz i've 3 Nvidia GPUs right now & i can't buy any ATI cards.Frankly speaking, i don't like ATI cards at all.Nvidia is the ultimate word in graphics to me & i'll stick to Nvidia as long as i can.

In general you don't necessarily need a SLi bridge to run SLi but you will loose a bit of performance.

Thanks Zach.My 7950GT has come here in my country but has stuck in the customs dept.Though i've requested the sender that not to put the full price of the card on the shipping documents if possible but they did put the full price of $300 Singapore Dollar(near about $200 US Dollars). That's why i'll have to pay more than 1/3 of the value of the card.
In general you don't necessarily need a SLi bridge to run SLI but you will loose a bit of performance.
Ya, without using the Bridge, i'll not get the full potential of SLI.

Just received my MSI 975x Powerup Edition Motherboard. This board is priced $165 but MSI mentioned the price on the shipping documents as only $29 & they have also written on the shipping documents that it's a marketing material.I'm really surprised to see that i didn't have to pay even a single bit of money to receive the parcel. As they have mentioned very little price on the shipping docs,Customs didn't charge me anything.Looks like MSI really knows how to handle this things very well.
Here is a picture of the shipping paper & the board itself:-

This boaard is MSI's 20th Anniversary special Limited Edition board. In previous versions of this board didn't contain that Heatpipe & the Copper Heatsinks on the VRM area which will really help the VRM area to stay cool when in full load or at the time of Overclocking.
So, in short, if companys want that they will send their products in such a way that the customs won't charge anything, they can do that.Wished if every company send their products like MSI.

Which CPU are you planning to buy? And why not put 2GB of RAM??? I guess that's because you cannot afford 2GB, but I would still try to make an effort and put 2GB, even it means puttings some cheap DDRII sticks, because I really think that 1GB is just not enough nowadays for most games and some of the applications...;-) GOOD LUCK!!!

Yep, u r right Zach.I currently can't afford 2GB but i'll buy the 2nd 1GB stick when i have money.
I think u've missed my post here :- http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12968
I've won an Intel Pentium D 820+ CPU in the ECS Online Promotion. So, i'm not going to buy any CPU now.I know this is not any good CPU but......
Again, when i'll have money i'll buy what u r going to buy now.The E6600.
So, after getting my CPU from ECS,i'll buy the ram ( 1Gig for now ) & a 500W PSU.So,my starting rig will be based on my new MSI 975x Powerup Edition Board,Pentium D 820+,1 Gig memory & the Foxconn 7950GT which i've also won previously as u know.

If u want to use my MB & my CPU, u'll have to come to India Werty. I simply don't care Werty if anyone know my address but for the security reasons i've deleted my name & the Mobile Number from that document.I really don't try to hide my identity. That's why i've used my real picture as my Avatar.

Oops...I DO missed it. ;-)
So I guess IT IS true that you're getting luckier than me, ha?
Anyway, CONGRATS on the CPU as well, and for the additional 1GB, take your time, and I'm pretty sure you'll have 2GB pretty soon...or...with that luck of yours you probably gonna win some RAM soon...

Donno, Zach, i'm getting more luckier than u or not but it's true that i'm winning now & for the ram, yea, i'm also hoping that i can win a 2GB stick too so that i won't have to buy it.It sounds greedy, but that's what i am Zach in case of contests but its for sure that i won't involve in spamming just to win it.

Don't say its greedy as you are free to enter a contest as long as you meet the requirements and never let anyone get to you when it comes to entering a contest as they are open anyone who enters.
With some luck whos knows, you just might win a 2GB memory kit.

Thanks for ur words Werty & hope so.Ya, I know Werty & Zachig, that it's not greedy but some people who have never won anything in the contests think that about us (who have won something or many things in the contests).Like i can say,in TechARP forum, they told me once that " u r here just to win the contests but we don't like that " .My problem was that,i couldn't log-in there coz i was then switching ISPs & i've logged in just after a contest has been announced. But they thought i was only visiting their forums only during a contest periord.Just for this reason, i quit from there.I know both of u, r there too but i think u may be agree that Bj3D has more friendly & comfortable atmosphere than the TechARP.
As i've said b4, i can't buy all the things i want for my PC coz i've to look after my family too. That's why i keep trying my luck in the contests & i'll keep tryting to win a good CPU & better memories as well.I've nothing to do but entering in the contests coz these contests r the main or rather the only way to get stuffz for my PC.

People are always asking me how I win contests and I tell them it's just blind luck if you actually manage to win something. Enter a lot and you just might win a few.
My nephew asked me last week if I could win him an Ipod  I told him maybe he should enter a few contests once in a while.
sushrukh

Exactly i also believe in that.Don't just think that u r not gonna win it.Just try to enter as many contests as u can & u'll become lucky in a few/many of them.If u can't find contests, try putting Forum+contest or just contests in Google & register in those websites or forums those provide contests related to your country or universal ones.

EXACTLY!

I'm doing it on a regular basis :ahhhhh:
I really don't think people should envy or get angry at people who are winning prizes over the net. Like werty said, these are contests which are opened for EVERYONE. Therefore, one can enter any contest he wants and try his luck. And like sushrukh said, if one enters A LOT of contests in paraellel, he might win one of them eventually...;-)
