Intel prepares to launch its Core 2 Duo E6x50-series, new E4000-series models and the Pentium E2100-series

The first upgrade of Intel's Conroe architecture is right around the corner. Roadmaps reveal the refreshed Conroe with a 1333 MHz front-side-bus arriving in Q3’07, around the same time of Intel’s Q3’07 price cuts. The new Core 2 Duo E6x50-series pricing will undercut pricing of current Core 2 Duo E6x00-series processors.

With the introduction of Core 2 Duo E6x50-series processors, the entire Intel Core 2 Duo desktop lineup will fall below the $300 price point. The Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 takes the top spot of Intel’s Core 2 Duo lineup at $266 per processor, in 1,000 unit quantities. Intel clocks the Core 2 Duo E6850 at 3.0 GHz, higher than last year’s flagship Core 2 Extreme X6800 and it costs a fraction of the X6800’s $999 launch price.

Scary... 3ghz Core 2 Duo, or 2.4ghz Core 2 Quad for under $300. AMD is going to have to keep prices low on K10 if they hope to keep the price/performance ratio win...

Great news, I always like it when a new processor comes out, because the older ones go down in price. Right now I have a 3.4Ghz P4, and I am going to upgrade when Intel will come out with a new processor different from the Core Duo, so I would save some money.

Man I am wondering now how will the new Pentium E and 6850 core duo score on the CPU tests.

Screw the E6850 as by the time it is released, the Q6600 will be as low as $266 in Intel's Q307 pricecut (http://www.hkepc.com/bbs/news.php?tid=755282&starttime=1172678400&endtime=1175356800). Dam this waiting game sucks.

You think that is bad? Just imagine, the next quarter after the $266 Q6600 Intel will start releasing 45nm part processors.... ;)

Intel is really going good coz they don't wanna loose the market share to AMD which AMD has gained previously with their Athlon 64 & Athlon XP lineup.

Now Intel has to do a thing with their CPUs.Their processors should also have a integrated memory controller like the Athlon 64/X2 which gives Athlon 64/X2 huge benefits in the memory intensive applications.

Intel can't add onboard memory controllers until they can replace their ageing FSB bus. It's possible that within 2-3 years they may indeed use the CSI interconnect to replace the FSB on desktop chips.
