The US$49.99 price was the STARTING bid.... not the final selling price. The auction is now over, but I'm sure that the card would've went for BIG $$$. All of the important bidding on e-bay occurs within the last few minutes of any big auction ;)

Gah!! I bet someone PMed the guy with a offer, so he ended the auction. He's selling another ATI card now using the same auction page, but it's obviously a x850 XT card...

It was probably dead anyway, but it'd still have made for a very nice $80 paperweight. ;)

The seller ended this listing early because the item was lost or broken." How f--- can you loose thie card since it is massive and what kind of person would break a R600 card? That auction can't be real.

I can't understand that while the R600 hasn't yet made it to public, how did he manage to grab one ?

Because it's not an R600. No where in the auction does it mention that it is an R600. So why do you think it is???

Yep, the card is a R600.You must have missed the pictures of the card on that page. The seller didn't know that he was selling a R600 but we know that bcoz we r familiar with that picture.

Not to nitpick, but just because the seller has posted up a pic of an R600 doesn't mean that the seller has it in their possession (sorry, a bit of e-bay caution there ;)) I mean, for all intents and purposes that was indeed the card up for auction, buuuut, because of its current rarity, you never know...

One of the pictures in the auction I have never seen on the net before, so I wouldn't rule it out that he had a R600. I'd expect it to be a dead card though, which would explain why it was missing parts.

Yep,i think u r talking about the picture that has also made me think that it's a real R600.So, u can see that, there r other pictures also but i've only posted this picture in my ist post in this thread coz i've not seen this picture b4 too.

Just because you have a picture of the R600 it doesn't mean the auction is for one, especially if it is labelled as an unknown video card.

This auction and the phase of "if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is" go hand and hand.

sushrukh, do you believe everything you see and read on the net???

Regardless, unless the person works for ATI and stole the board, which would certainly get him fired, I highly doubt that the auction was for an actual R600.

Some people are just too gullible I guess and believe what they see or hear.

No, i've not completely believed it.I've just posted this thing coz i thought that it's an interesting story that i should share with my bj3d friends.Like i said b4 (Kougar also thinks so) that one picture among those pictures have never been posted on the net b4.That's why i've thoght that maybe he has stolen the card from somewhere & now he's selling it without knowing what it was.

But it's true that it's very hard to believe.

I've found that this has been discussed in other forums too.

One guy who have bought many things from this E-Bay seller is in this forum.Look what he & other members has to say about this guy.

" This seller is a 40 something year old Pakistani guy that sells used computer parts out of his garage in Ontario. He doesn't know or care what he has. He had a stacks of DVD burners and offered to sell me 10 for $10. If you look through his feedback, you will find my user name.

AMD/ATI's main office is in Markam Ontario about 15 minutes from where this guy lives. I bought a X1800 off him and a couple other cards, all with the same mounting brackets missing. The X1800 I have has all kinds of weird stickers on it and a HSF unlike any other X1800 cooler I have seen. Someone probably did tip off ATI and I bet someone did arrive at his house right quick to buy the card back off him. But I guarantee he had it in his hands and did not know what he had. But as I said, I als oguarantee itwas an engineering sample like most of the cards this seller sells and it was non functional. There is noone on the planet besides ATI engineers that could possibly fix it, if it was even ever operational."

So there's a good chance it's just a paperweight?

Non-functional-R600-paperweight-edition for $50 - sounds good to me. :-D
