Excerpt: "With the nForce6 NVIDIA went all out and released the chipset first for the Intel platform. After the less than stellar nForce590 for Intel a lot of people, including me, were a bit cautious and didn’t know what to expect. Has NVIDIA learned their lesson and delivered an Intel experience as solid as we used to expect from their AMD chipsets?"

This was a great review. I plan to upgrade after the Intel April price cuts and I keep looking at 2 mobos - the full 680i versus the cheaper 650i.

It seems you can overclock easier and higher with the full 680i than the 650i mobos...but it seems that a few users are getting close to 680i results with their 650i mobos but not everyone.

For the price/performance ratio and ease of use, which one?

With the correct bios on either board, with like components, they both will clock the same. The 680i has a bit more mature bios, but still has bugs as well. Give the 650i boards a month or 2 more and they will be just about right for half the price.

Personally I wouldn't spend money on a 680i-SLi board when a 650i-SLi performs close if not on par with the 680i-SLi.

You also wouldn't have to spend money in one of these. You r very lucky that you already won this superb Evga 680i.

And to the topic :- Anyone thinking that they will get better results from the9000/10000 series memories will go for 680i & the rest who know that DDR2 800 is still better performer & one of the best overclockers will go for the 650 way. They can easily overclock their system & get to the 680 level. So, why wasting money ?

Btw, nice review Victor.

I'd take a 680i board if it were given to me, but other than that, I'm to poor to buy one............:(

Duh, you are absolutely right. I must have been sleeping when I wrote that. What I was thinking off was the fact that for some other motherboards I have had to go in and manually increase the voltage to get higher overclocks.

Thanks for noticing it. I'm going to go in and edit tonight to get it right.

I plan on getting this mobo as well. However, I'm a noob at the computer building and bios, etc. Is it hard/complicated to fix/update the bios and such?

nope, the bios update for this mobo is really easy. Download the file from EVGA's website and run it with floppy disk inserted in your system. The file will automatically create a floppy with the BIOS. Then boot your system with the floppy as the first boot device, then it will automatically flash the bios.
