Alrighty, so after a night in Kaz (World of Warcraft), I hit the sack after I turned my Comp off. The next morning I turned it back on to check the email. The computer was on and so was the monitor, but it kept displayin "Test: No signal, check connection" blah blah blah. So I restarted it thinking that'd do it but no. So I plugged it into my standard VGA slot that came with the computer, and it works. So I'm pissed off that my 1 yr 1/2 Video Card doesnt work anymore cause that means no Comp games :frown: ...

So thinkin it was the Geforce MX 4k (the bad video card) I used my Lifetime warranty and sent it back. I ended up buying a 256mb ATI Radeon X 1600 Pro just cause I wanted to.

But this leads me to my question, Could the MB gotte fried too? My monitor is hooked up to my standard VGA slot right now and everything is ok. When I try to put it back in the Geforce one the heat sink gets very very very hot.

Whats going on?

Are there bad capacitors on the motherboard?

What is your PSU?

How old is the computer?

We need more details about your machine.

I am not sure if the motherboard is fried or not, but it does look like something is wrong with it. If you tried two slots as how you said it, and the heat only occurs in that one slot, then I beleive that there is something wrong with the parts leading to that slot. I am not much of a electronic part geek, but when my dad comes home, (he is a electronic engineer) then I will ask him if there is something wrong with the motherboard.

standard VGA slot
Do you mean onboard video?

Since more information is require I'll just assume it is; if your onboard video works fine then it your MX4 that is toast.

If it has a lifetime warranty just RMA it for a new one...

Well idk. Im using my monitor plug that came with the computer right now but the one that I THINK is fried is the Mx4k...and im paranoid bout the MX4k being fine just the slot that the Mx4k goes into is fried....cause Im low on cash

I think he is asking what are you plugging your monitor into right now? Is it a blue connector built into the motherboard?

Then the problem is not your motherboard. Its the MX4 that is dead.

Like I said before, If it has a lifetime warranty just RMA it for a new one.

Exactly. My point was why RMA that POS MX4000 when he has an X1600 already on the way? Now that hes got it and it works theres no point now.

He could sell it as money is money.

He could RMA his old faulty card and do what he wants with it; IE: give it to someone who needs it, sell it, keep it, etc. Better than letting a dead card go to waste ;)
