Well... I was so happy with how well XFX took care of my RMA that I decided to repay them buy buying another XFX 8800GTX so I can go SLI. Woohoo! My bank account isn't saying the same thing though... ;-)

Hopefully I'll be in town when it shows up because I want to start playing with that baby right now! I'm supposed to be in Washington DC the last half of the week next week. Oh no!

I'll be sure to post pics and benches as soon as I can....

Sheesh man... like there's a single game really limited with one 8800GTX right now! ;) I won't envy you being bug zapper though with G80 SLI on Vista, even Scott admitted it wasn't problem free!

Double your RAM and you'll have a rig equal to Scotts. If that's possible.

Yeah he is getting close. I am going Quad Core when Crysis comes out so he will be behind again.

It all depends on how high you can OC that quad core Scott. We'll see what the benchmarks say... ;-)

A battle of the titans, 2 rigs going at it, one not quite as good, but with more driver, and on more drugs(OC'd one) there will be the epic clash of the summer.

Coming soon to a forum near you

The Winner(?) vs Kougar, The Sequel
Watercooling Extraordinaire, will his watercooling advantage be enough to usurp the victor?
Coming this fall (if Intel ever follows through with their $266 Q6600)

CONGRATS on your new purchase XJ! A 2nd 8800GTX is always a nice addon ;-) , but I personally don't think I would go for a 2nd 8800GTX to run mine in SLI, unless I had the extra money to spend on this, of course...

Right now, the best and requested upgrade for me would be to replace my current nF4 (socket 939) setup to Core2Duo.

I'll probably go for the E6600 when the prices drop down (on Apr. 22), though going for a QX6700 Quad-Core is quite tempting, as its price will also go down quite drastically...

Nah...I think it'll better to stick with the E6600, as I don't want to spend too muchm and beside, it's not my only expense in the near future, as I also need to buy a new mobo, and I'm also planning on buying another 250GB SATA II HD, to run my HD in RAID configuration...;-)

Anyway, ENJOY XJ!!! :icon_tiphat:

I'm such a chicken. I decided not to confront the challenge that is SLI + Vista. I've spent the better part of today reformatting my system and reinstalling XP. Vista just wasn't doing it for me and I didn't feel like fighting with my OS just to get SLI working properly.

My OS is all ready now and my case is ready too. I did some cable management to make sure all of my PCIe cables were ready and all of the junk was out of the way. My card will be here on Monday, yay!

Bummer. SLI Vista drivers at the end of the month.

Too bad that doesn't fix the rest of the problems with Vista. Even though it's not all bugs there's still enough I don't feel comfortable with that I prefer to be back with XP.

To each his own, I am really enjoying Vista.

To each his own, I am really enjoying Vista.
I've also made up my mind to install Vista (and Vista only, without XP) on my new system. This means I'll be installating and running Vista in about a month or two. I really hope I'm not too rush...;-)

Here are some initial SLI results. Unfortunately I have changed from Vista to XP and have also changed driver versions (obviously) since I ran the earlier benchmarks here http://www.bjorn3d.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12958. I also lowered my OC on the video cards since I switched to SLI since I haven't taken the time to figure out the stable settings on the new 8800GTX. My old OC was at 635 core, 1550 shader, and 1050(2100) mem. My cards are at 600 core, 1450 shader, and 1000(2000) mem right now. Eventually I'll get around to testing the new card so I can try to go a bit faster.

3DMark06: 15710 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=1660034

3DMark05: 22802 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2900515

3DMark03: 59835 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=5303769

3DMark01SE: 67703 http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=9181456

I redid my Oblivion run also. Again this is with different drivers and on a different OS. On top of that I upped my visual quality settings. The settings are the same as before except I switched to 16x AF and 16xQ AA, they were set to 8x AF and 8xQ AA last time.

I ran single card and SLI benchmarks with the same settings since this new run isn't really comparable to the old one.

Single card: 74.4 avg FPS

SLI: 82.4 avg FPS

Not a huge speed difference but as I'm sure you all know some games take better advantage of SLI than others. Still nice to see I can get great FPS with even higher image quality settings.

Oooo if only i had a job that paid good monies lol..

If i had a job period i could afford something nice. Yay for parents they are willing to hold off kicking me out for another 2 years. According to my calculations i should be done with college in... 3 years... hmmm.. i am screwed.

Nice, but do you really need to go sli with those monsters instead you could feed The Children by selling one.:)

Nevermind break 1600 we can get back to the children later.
