Since the 8600GTS available in Australia here is something to wet your whistle.

Thanks for the links Werty.
I kinda hoped it to be faster than 1950pro. But it still is a dx10 card and has longer future ahead of it. Now lets just wait and see what new ATI has to offer. The timing for mainstream dx10 cards couldn't be better for me, cause I'm planning to build a new PC in the next month or so.

Donno what's happening. This card seems a lot slower than the 7900GT in many cases like the UT2K4,Fear & Doom 3.I think we've expected much better than this from the 8600GTS but it's performing like hell in most of these benchies.

It seems that only getting higher 3D Marks is it's motto. Not for gamers at all.I'm quite disheartened by its performance ( well, where the hell is the performance ? )

maybe since its low end dx10 vs. high end dx9?

I dont no, but maybe like a 7800gt vs. a x850xt pe?

8600GTS is a midrange card.

The reason why the 8600GTS doesn't quite perform to how you think it should is the 128-bit bus.

The 8600Ultra has a 256-bit bus and should perform much better.

Idk it dosent seem to be doing to bad for having only a 128-bit memory bus.

Got any links to these 8600 Ultra rumors? The 256bit mem bus is a new one on me... the info I have was that any G86 "Ultra" was simply wrong info from those OCWorkbench charts?

Tech ARP's Desktop Graphics Card Comparison Guide (http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=88&pgno=3) shows a 8600Ultra. Who knows if there will be a 8600Ultra,.. maybe later down the road or maybe the 8600Ultra is the 8600GTS; who knows.

For now I guess there isn't a 8600Ultra and maybe there won't be one: http://www.dailytech.com/Midrange+GeForce+8000series+Launch+Dates+Prices/article6825.htm
