Well I know i've been talking about this controversial piece of hardware many times but recently BFN sent a test card to a very well known member of the NCIX (Popular Canadian online store) forums to write a review of the card.
He made many reviews of various hardware and is above average in his knowledge of computers because of his long time experience in the domain.
According to DaleF and a BigFoot Network rep. the KillerNIC is on par with an Intel PCI network card.
But as far as onboard solutions in every tests the onboard network card (in this case a onboard Marvel 88E8053) was sometimes up to 10+ ms worst then the other 2 cards.

The KillerNIC seems to stumble in games such as
Guild Wars
Battlefield 2
on the other hand the KillerNIC seems to perform a little better in F.E.A.R
Not much difference is seen in CSS, World of Warcraft and so on.

Dale, thank you for the review. You were a pleasure to work with, and I wish you all the success in your personal life.

I think you will be successful, as you clearly have passion, discipline, and attention to detail.

As for your review, I think a good summary is in order!
Killer vs. Onboard NIC: HANDS DOWN KILLER OWNED IT!!! (just like all our tests).
Killer vs. Discreet Intel NIC: 50% Killer wins, 50% Intel wins. (But Killer a HUGE win in FEAR).

comparing prices from NCIX of both addon cards.
Intel Pro/1000MT $43.14 CAD
Bigfootnetwork KillerNIC $289.99 CAD

Some may wonder why would they shell out almost 200 more bucks for the KillerNIC to get the same performance.
You have to remember that the KillerNIC has its own processor that can run apps such as a firewall, bittorrent client and so on.
In short it runs these apps straight on the KillerNIC
This could reduce a little bit of load on your CPU.

Great review DaleF and keep it up as I have read many of your reviews in the past, wich are very well writen, detailed, and unbiased !

And you know what? Ill say what ive said before on other forums. Why spend so much money on an NIC when my server which i built from scrap parts can do what it does but 10x better? Not only that, my server is running 10/100 Intel PRO cards, not gigabit. Runs dedicated servers, dedicated F@H, i dont like bit but it can do that too if i wanted. Keeping all this server nonsense off my machine and leaving me a spare PCI slot.

Small error in the pricing there. You're probably looking at the two port version. I paid around $40 for my Pro/1000MT. They don't actually make them anymore, but the Pro/1000GT or Pro/1000PT are probably equivalent now.
(Oh, and sorry for bumping an older thread, but I just saw this.)
