Excerpt: "Whether a frequent LAN goer or the family computer happens to share the bedroom, there are plenty of reasons why a good quality headset might be needed. 105mm Howitzer fire going off at 1am on a Monday morning with your window wide open and your neighbor’s bedroom about ten feet away would be an ideal example! The SteelSound 3H we have for this review is the most economical headset offered by SteelSeries. Nonetheless these are marketed as a “professional gaming headset”, therefore I will test them accordingly."

The SteelSound headsets have been here for some time, but this is the first time I read a review on their 3H headset.
I really enjoyed reading your review! WELL DONE!!! :icon_tiphat:
I especially like the retractable mic, which is something all their models have. The big advantage if the 3H set, is that it's easy to take it with you  (to Lan Parties for example...)
(I personally think it desrves a bit higher score than 6.0/10...;-) )

Thanks for the comments Zachig :)
I would have loved to give it a higher score, the audio and mic sound quality certainly was a surprise to me! However what good is a "Professional Gaming Headset" if you can only wear it for 30 minutes before having to constantly readjust it because it is growing increasingly uncomfortable? Just an hour of use would get slightly painful, which means just a single game of CoH and I'd be in trouble.
Most people's gaming sessions last far longer than an hour, as I recall the national average was over 2 hours and even nearing 3 depending on the demographics etc etc. I still feel that is unacceptable since this is designed to be a professional gaming headset, being forced to take it off in the middle of a game with your teammates all on TeamSpeak for voice communication is not a good thing! I was hoping my ears might "grow into" this headset, but that never happened. It's still painful to use after an hour.

Nice review brother Kougar. ^^ Anyway i am still thinking which one to choose...
either the 3H , 4H or 5Hv2 SteelSounds.
How do they differ in sound quality for gaming like CS? I mean i know they differ in pricing, sizes, and mostly the outer look[3H Collapsible and 4H is not. 5H you can dismantle, that's what i mean by outer looks]. But for the fine tuning in those games like CS how do this 3 super headset differ? Does it mean that 5hv2 is more expensive it has better sound? how does this sound differ.?
Besides that how do they differ in Music wise as well? Most reviews only talk abt those technical spec of the headset which is already on the box...
thanks.. hope that i didnt write too long in my first post
wahaha

PylonX, I can't answer that because I've only reviewed the 3H model, and a fellow reviewer Mr. Victor Wu reviewed the 4H headset. I'm afraid neither of us has reviewed the 5H or 5h v2. ;)
If you've not already I might suggest you read his review here (http://www.bjorn3d.com/read.php?cID=1079). The sound quality for the 3H was great for music and all the little nuances needed in FPS games like CS, but unless you have small ears I would suggest looking to the 4H or 5H models. As I said in the review the 3H is the only model with half-cup size earphones which are to uncomfortable to use for over an hour. The quality is a moot point if you can't use it for extended periods. ;)

The bass was a little on the lean side, but for gaming it wouldn't be noticeable at all only just in music. The audio was still more crisp sounding than the older KOSS UR30 stereophones I use. So overall, yes the audio quality was excellent.
