For those who haven't read about it yet:

Nvidia GeForce 8800 Ultra is projected to be available in mid-May, which about the timeframe when ATI, graphics product group of Advanced Micro Devices, is expected to release its highly-anticipated code-named R600 product. Pricing and bundling of the new GeForce 8800 Ultra graphics card is still not completely clear with various sources pointing towards $650 - $999 gap.

The exceptionally high price gap of the GeForce 8800 Ultra implies that either Nvidia is confident that it would be the fastest product on the market when it is released, or the quantities of its shipments will be limited and people will be willing to pay premium for an exclusive device.

Wow, really impressive speeds and 768MB memory. Wow. The price is way too high though.

If I remember correctly there are a few factory OC'd cards that clocked that high on the core and slightly below that on the memory for a heck of a lot less money.

This one is faster on the core and only 0.16 slower on the memory and only runs $580 after rebate..........;)

Oh yeah. Heck, even my 8800GTS OC's to 660mhz Core with the same 1500mhz shaders. The RAM only made it to 1975mhz though, but the core speed has the largest impact on these cards anyway.

It would have been much better for nVidia's reputation if they'd not released this meager overclock of a card for 38% higher price, especially since it is not needed. It just shows how greedy they are.

Can you overclock the shaders on the 8x00 series cards?

The shaders are automatically overclocked when raising the core clockspeed.

Wow, that is one pricey card... waaaay overpriced, as many have already commented. Oh well, if you're too scared to OC your stock card, I guess an 8800 Ultra is an option :?
