Hi guys!
You all know about my planned business trip.
It all started with a planned businees trip of 3 weeks for both China (South) and Hong-Kong.
It was originally planned for Apr. 7, then it has been postponed to Apr. 12, then Apr. 21, then Apr. 28, May 5...and then...TOTALLY cancelled off. :jawdrop:
But...you won't believe it. I been told a few days ago that I'm planned AGAIN to go, this time to China North (Shanghai, Suzouh) for two weeks. :ahhhhh:
It seems that now it's FINAL, but after what happened, you can never know.
So I guess I'll have my new board and CPU installed only after I'll be back (not before May 27...) :frown:
I just know that my tickets are already booked and I'll have my flight on Satursday morning. ;-)
So...I WILL believe only when I'll be seating in the airplane...
That's it, we'll be in touch from there, of course!!! :icon_tiphat:

Man that sure sounds like a pain in the butt not even knowing for sure what's going to happen and when.................That's almost as bad as when I was in the service and we were getting ready t go to the Gulf or somewhere we didn't really want to go.

Yeah, that's really a big pain in the butt :frown: , but I bet, going to the gulf was even worse...
So...this you serve in the Persian Gulf during the war with Iraq on 1991?

Yup, I was over there for over 6 months or so. We deploied out of Europe (the old 7th Corps) during the Desert Shield phase and we were one of the last units to return to Europe (that always happens to Aviation Units).

Hmmm...interesting! It would be nice if you could share with us some of your military stories...;-) Maybe you can start a weekly thread...

A little history of where I offically spent most of my 20 years (15) in the service of my country........:)
VII Corps cut a swathe through Iraqi forces. It advanced with XVIII Airborne Corps (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._XVIII_Airborne_Corps) on its left wing and Arab (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arab) forces on its right wing. It pulverized all Iraqi forces that tried to stand and fight and destroyed a good proportion of Iraq's Republican Guard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_Republican_Guard) divisions. A ceasefire was called before the destruction of the Republican Guard units could be completed.
After the fighting was over, VII Corps returned to Germany. It was disbanded as part of the post-Cold War American defense spending cuts.

War Hero............LOL.......not on your life, I was there just doing my job and serving my country. I'd do it all over again if given the chance, as the old saying goes, Duty, Honor, Country.

Thanks mate...:icon_tiphat:
I just arrived China a few hours ago. Actually I arrived Pu-Dong (Shanghai) Airport about 10 hours ago, but then I took a 2 hours taxi to Kunshan city, which is the first place I'm gonna be (for 3-4 days) at the site of one of our customers there.
I had a VERY LONG flight from Israel to Paris (5 Hours), waited at the airport (for my connection flight) 4 hours and then from Paris to Shanghai (another 11 !!! hours), and then a taxi ride of 2 hours.
So it too be around 22 (!!!) to arrive here.
I went to sleep a few hours and then took a short walk around the hotel just to grab something to it.
The hotel is located in the Industrial District, so there's nothing special to see...:frown:
I guess I won't buy anything (I mean PC Hardware... ) this time, as I've already spent too much recently after buying the ASUS P5N-E mobo and the E6600 CPU. Oh...and I forgot to mention that eventually, just before I left Israel, I managed to grab the Thermaltake Extreme Spirit II NB Cooler for 100 NIS (around $25) .
The only thing that I might buy here is another WD 250GB SATA II HD, but I only if I'll be able to get it for a cheaper price than in Israel...;-)
That's it guys, going to sleep soon, as tomorrow is my first day of work here and I have plenty of things to do a prepare... and it's already after 20:30 here...
I'll try to take some pictures while I'm here and share them with you.
I'll keep you updated...:icon_tiphat:

That's one heck of a way to get to where you're going, a direct flight would have be nice, not to mention a lot more enjoyable and shorter.
Glad you made it there safely though...........;)

Yeah, I know...but this is what my company arranged for me, as it was a much cheaper flight and they saved a lot of money by taking this one instead of a direct flight...but hey, nobody thought about or asked poor zachig...:frown:
Anyway, going to sleep...;-)
Man, that's a hell of a ride, Zach ;)
Hope you're doing fine, make the most out of it!
Have a great stay in China...

I don't know what those drives are going for in Israel right now, but here in the states, you can pick up one for around $70 now, I'm thinking about picking up another one as well...........:jawdrop:

In Israel you can get one for $80-$85 and I already found out that I get here (in China) a WD 250GB SATA II for a little bit less than 500TMB, which is around $65. It's NOT a big difference, but it's still a slight save so I might grab one...

GOOD LUCK then...;-)
