Sorry for the repost.

I just bought the components for a killer rig:

XFX 680i LT
e6600 (will eventually overclock and use scythe ninja revision B cooler)
Antec Gamer 900
XFX 8800 GTX
OCZ 700 Game Xtream
2 gigs Patriot 8500 extreme performance
2 x 320 gig seagate sata
Antec quietdrive sata dvd burner

Built her last night and...no power up! What a disappointment. I posted in the OCZ forums and thought I'd post here too.

What happened:

Turn on power and the blue LED in the top right of the motherboard lights up but no other action (no fans - no bios - no pcu fan turning).

What I'm trying:

I unplugged power to everything and jumpstarted the PSU with a paperclip. The PSU works. I plugged in the 24 pin main and 8 pin cpu power connectors and hit power. Again nothing except that little blue LED. Then it was too late in the night to continue. Today after work I intend on removing everything to double check there aren't any additional risers that are shorting the board (which I doubt since I was very careful), and turning on the power to the board outside of the case.

OCZ forum said if jumpstarting works then I probably have a short somewhere. What else besides loose screws or unused risers should I be looking for?

What else could I do to troubleshoot the board?

I'm open to suggestions as I'm aching to get this beauty working. Must play Oblivion in 8800 GTX glory!

80% sure that it is a connector or cable problem. Did you try disconnecting the all power/reset/LED connectors and such then manually shorting the power pins to turn the computer on?

Also uninstall and reinstall your RAM modules and vid card, and ensure they are both firmly snapped into place.

I will unplug the power/reset/LED connectors tonight. Could you please give me detailed instructions on how to "manually short the power pins to turn the computer on?" I've never done that before.

When attaching this specific motherboard, do I need to use the paper washers that come with the case screws to attach? Would not using them cause a short?

Thanks again!

It is much simpler/safer than shorting the PSU, that is for sure. Just use the paperclip and touch both Power On pins. Just make sure you verify which two pins to short, as if you short the wrong ones nothing will happen.

You ordinarily should not need to use paper spacers between the motherboard screws and the risers.

Thanks Kougar, you ROCK! I had the power connector on the wrong pin. Switched it over and she came to life! :beerchug:

Glad that fixed it for ya! I've done that a few times myself when working in cramped cases... :)
