Morning everyone,

Thanks to everyone who helped me work through my other issues with my XFX board.

I am happy to report I hit a maximum of 475MHz on the FSB with a 6x multiplier and I am able to run my e6420 at 3.5GHz with a 437.5 FSB.

One problem still remains though. nTune will not report any voltages and on the drop down tab it will only report my CPU temp and my GPU temp. Nothing regarding my SYSTEM (northbridge) temp.

XFXSupport, have you seen this before? Will it require a bios update? I am using the newest nTune 5.05.38

Thank you for the help.

the new nforce chipset somehow won't report the NB temp on any software (as far as I can tell). I think this is true for the 680i, 680lt and 650 chipsets. The only way to get the temp is through BIOS.

Not sure about that as nTune and EVEREST read everything just fine for me.

nTune is working just fine onn my XFX 680i LT as well, but it didn't to to hot on my MSI 650i board either, maybe it's not seeing the 650i chipsets correctly.

Based on the release notes, nTune supports the entire nForce 600 series.

Products support for advanced motherboard monitoring features:
nForce 680a SLI, nForce 680i SLI/680i SLI LT, nForce 650i SLI/650i Ultra

I know that it's supposed to support them all, but after talking to a bunch of other people with 650i chipsets, most are having some problems with it.

Let me team with my engineers to see if they have heard of such an issue. Also the new bios will be on our website shortly, actually I am sure I can get my hands on it and email to you.

Dear XFX Support,

Please for the love of all that is pure and good. Please package these files in an ISO file that can I burn to a bootable CD.

I don't have a...what was it called again? "floppy" drive. I forgot what they look like.

Oh and hey, I couldn't find it on the site, what updates were done for this bios? Anything juicy?

From eVGA forums:

P02 BIOS is available now, the major highlights are listed below:

* Overclocking improvements
* BIOS menu clean-up
* USB key boot-up fixes

If you can boot to a USB flash drive, check out my thread for the boot flash drive files and here's the Bios file along with the flash program for your Ultra board, they are already extracted from XFX's floppy program.

Hey guys.

XFX Support, upgraded to the newest BIOS and nTune now reports my voltages.
I used a USB drive but it is a little annoying cuz I had to use the HP utility to make it bootable and then I need to copy the files from the floppy disk since the XFX utility only extracts itself to a floppy drive.

One problem now. XFX Support nTune now reads my CPU temp as 18C idle. I am on an air cooler at 24.5 C ambient.
Is my motherboard bending the rules of thermodynamics?? Or is the new bios screwing with the temp probes?

Thanks XFX.

What temp does the bios show?

Thats an Give CoreTemp (http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/) a try as it should give you the correct CPU temps.

The BIOS reads the same 18C temp. nTune just grabs its data from the BIOS.

It reports my CPU voltage as 1.35 (same as set in BIOS) where CPU-z reports it as 1.312

Since I have had this board I have been getting very inconsistent reading on everything from voltages to temps.

It makes it hard to OC when you don't have accurate information to rely on.

Core temp thinks I have an e6500 (I have an e6420)
what is my Tjunction? it read it at 85C
Core 0 is 21c
Core 1 is 19C

Ambient temp is 25C and I am running air.

Wow something is screwed up thats for sure :shock:

From CoreTemp website:
Intel defines a certain Tjunction temperature for the processor. In the case of Yonah it is 85C° or 100C°. First of all the program reads from a Model Specific Register (or MSR), and detects the Tjunction temperature. A different MSR contains the temperature data, this data is represented as Delta in C° between current temperature and Tjunction

Hmm i read somewhere that TJunction temp was the temp taken between the 2 cores?

What stepping is your core............if it's a L2 stepping (100c Tjunction), coretemp 0.95 should give you he correct temp of your CPU. One of the biggest problems is that you are running a new board along with a new CPU..........;)

CPUz is reading the actual vcore and nTune is only reading what you have the Bios set at (I think, at least it does with my board). If you go into the hardware health monitor it should give you a actual reading of what you are running. I do know that these boards do have a pretty good sized vdroop, mine is showing much more with the newest bios than what it did with the older one.

BTW, Glad to see that you got your Bios flashed, I hope that they issue the future bios in a different format, it's sort of a pain doing this as often as I have here lately.
