Lan party will be hosted by me on july 18th in Jacksonville, Florida.
I'm about 99% sure this will be from 1pm eastern- when ever.
I will need help with a big switch and some tables and chairs.
Make sure to bring your own ethernet cable.
I will try my best to get some pizza.. but it would be nice if some of you could help with either some food or a little money to help buy some pizza.
Games that I know we will be playing for sure is CSS!!! We can play any other game also. I also got a big screen tv so if you want to bring a game console or movies your more than welcome. I have an xbox and a ps2. I'm only 16 and this will be my very first lan party so lets make it a good first one.. Last but not least. Please dont bring any alcohol!!!
if you guys want, you can bring a bunch of stuff that you want to sell and a bunch of money cause my mother is great with math and i could have her be responsible for a little store where we can sell our stuff.... just make sure to mark down ur price and what u have.
please bring 5 dollars to have pizza.. make sure you emailed me at all4spl@verizon.net and tell me you paid or no pizza for you.

Obviously I cant come due to living a few thousand miles away. However just some things i thought you might like to include. Is it at a house, large building like a scout hall, or something? And do people have to message you telling you they are coming?

Uhh.
I think if you posted pictures, made a nice flyer or somthing, said there was gonna be food. Like $10 entrance fee so u can pay for the pizza and everything, would be alot better.
Wished I lived closer, it would be really fun to participate. Wonder what a flight ticket from sweden would cost?. For how long will it be? I mean Ifyou will Lan for two days it might be worth it to travel from sweden after all. :D

Dude, 22nd is my birthday. Ok couple of friends are roadtripping. Charge 5 bucks at the door for pizza, take a list of who paid and whoever dosent pay dosent get pizza. Thats how most LANs are ran. I will PM you further on if i can come, if i do ill bring my servers and switchers. Make sure you have enough individual HUBs/routers.
How many ppl are you planning for. If you want ppl to come from worldwide make sure you have enough space to accomodate these ppl. You wouldnt want somebody to spend all that money and have no room for them. I suggest making sure you have enough for power. Nobody wants to be in a good game and trip the breakers. NO LEAKS. Make sure there are no leaks period. Nobody wants a shorted out system. Last but not least, you live in Florida for petes sake, and its the heat of the summer. Make sure your AC can handle being cranked around the 65F mark. Nobody wants to be roasted out or get warm.
Also, make sure you have something setup in the background for a little background noise. Little radio or something for some easy going music. Techno usualy works cause most everybody can handle it.
A little PA thingy or just a mic setup in general for tourny, game, and pizza anouncements is always nice so everybody knows whats going on.
Have a big dry erase board setup for tourny brackets so nobody thinks anybodies cheating. Have somebody who you trust handle that, or do it yourself.
If i show up, ill be your network admin. And ill help you run the LAN if you like.
Anything else you need to know ask me. Ive done these kinds of things alot and all of them where successful.

Hmm, can you have one person in the LAN act as a bridge between the hamachin network and the lan? Just curious

i have no experience with hamachi.. I've heard of it but never tried it.. I'm also going to need tables... if anyone has a huge switch.. like 16 port or bigger. (i dont know how many people there is going to be) Also you need to bring your own ethernet cable.. Longer=better.. I'm in maine right now.. I'm going to visit my mother in florida in july so thats why it's there. Thanks a lot guys.. I'm hoping this will be a sweet lan!

Hmm, can you have one person in the LAN act as a bridge between the hamachin network and the lan? Just curiousNo. Hamachi configures your servers (dedicated games of the sort) for internet use. Basicaly what Hamachi does is make it so you can play online with your friends at a LAN aprty yes, but it also screws up your networking. So in turn everybody SHOULD be able to play if were all on the same Hamachi server and the games are configured for it, but it almost always never works with something like this. Tried it before on a big LAN and didnt work. Messed up all the game servers and nobodys computer saw another persons. It was wierd.
EDIT What i mean by networking i mean.
Situation
Hamachi gaming enabled, ppl LANing at the place and online.
Problem
With Hamachi on regular internet (IE Myspace) wont work. File sharing is a no. They wont work becasue Hamachi messes with your *port forwarding* simply put. And you have to configure everything to run through the Hamachi server IP which is a biznatch. Just not worth the trouble really. Great for like WoW or something or like 4 ppl here, 2 ppl at another house. Big things like this, no.

Mmmk thanks. Cause my friends all play diabloII at their house via wireless router (UNI share house), and was wondering if I could get in on their LAN game by connecting to one of the computers in their house through hamachi then linking into the LAN. Looks like ill be trying to convince them them to all use hamachi lol

i rented a server.. so if we want, we can all play on that. but i need to know how many people are going.. Go here and sign up if you plan to go.
http://z7.invisionfree.com/Public_Lan/index.php? Please talk on there about the lan so we can get it all situated.
