So, i think if u want the performance,u shouldn't buy the 8500GT.It's not even close to the 8600 series.

Thats because the 8800s woud destroy the 8500 & 8600 cards.

WELL YEA! i would just like to see some numbers for my viewing pleasure. a nice reference to how much better the card is numerically

OH YEA AND WHATS THE DEAL WITH ONLY 256MB on these cards? atleast 320 I'd think would be some sort of option on the new 8600 series. really. i have a 512mb 6600 why the heck would they not put a bit more then 256mb on a 8600? or have i just missed this?

Do u wanna pay more price for them Tyle ? If they put more than the 256 MB,the price will rise & nobody will buy them. They may release 512MB versions later if the 8600 series sells good, otherwise not.

well i would pay a few bucks more for the 8600 maybe some day with 512mb and 320 cant cost that much more. have you read the arcticle by the ex epox employee? theres a post in these forums with a link to the arcticle check it out.

Gainward makes a 8600GTS & 8600GT with 512MB of video memory.

The reason why most if not all of the boards have 256MB is they are following the nVidia reference board. Unless a company wants to make one with more memory, you'll get one based on the nVidia reference board.

There are also 8500GT cards with 512MB.

More memory won't help performance as much as raw processing power; more memory can help at higher resolutions.
