I believe that's what XFX Support was alluding to. I will have a completed review of this motherboard ready in the next 10 days or so.

All these boards(680i chipset) can run Quad cores. The problem stems from the fact that earlier revisions had problems overclocking Quad Core processors. As this board was advertised as an overclocking board this was not acceptable and so the GTL mod was required to fix this anomoly. The issue is as the poster asked was do all the XFX 680i boards have this mod done. IMO they all have not, the A+ revision does but the earlier revision does not. If I am wrong here please correct me XFXSupport but it has been difficult to get this information from XFX as I myself asked this very question weeks ago and recieved a very cryptic answer. EVGA were very upfront about this so it really escapes me as to why XFX have seen fit to dance around this issue. The poster asked a simple question that IMO required a simple answer. We all know these boards can run Quad Core processors.

eVGA was the first partner to release the 680i-SLI so I am sure by the time word came out about the quadcore overclocking issues all other partners fixed this issue but I could be wrong.
The I think the review of the 680i-SLI states that XFX is using a newer revision.
EDIT: Found it:
Oh and lest we forget to mention tha t the current A+ model released by XFX has all the quad enhancements that were present on the A1 model recently released by EVGA.

Like I stated in a similar thread all of our 680i motherboards come with the quad core enhancements. We didn’t actually start releasing the 680i until many of the issues were resolved with them (quad core enhancement being one of them). Its not that we have been trying to avoid the issues with the 680i, just that we don’t have any.
