Ok guys, I just ordered a shiney new Zalman 9500 AM2 (the one with the Nvidia logo and green LED fan) with some AS5 and G5 (for sticking random smaller heatsinks on everything else)

How far do you think i will be able to push my sempy with this?

I'm hoping to at least hit 2.8Ghz, but you never know what might happen.

congrat on that hsf, it's a great one

Well with the CNPS 9500 I could push my PD805 to 3.8GHz (no kidding) originally 2.6GHz.
around 50c to 55c and full load around 65c.
I know it might be a little high.
As far as the vcore I trully don't remember sorry...
But to tell you the truth I have to tell you that so far I think its the best air cooling you can get.
Its a little more expensive then the others but it works wonders.

I will be picking one of these up at Frys when im getting my Zalaman Falatl1ty cooler for my 7950GT ;) Awesome HSF.

kinda off topic but what is the best paste for applying heatsinks? personally i just use some CPU heatsink paste from a electronics store for about everything how much of an effect does some good paste have over the reg old white gunk.

I personnaly always have used AS5.
I have noticed sometimes up to even 10c difference on AS5 and the normal thermal pads on stock HSF

Yah, AS5 is infamous for it's awesomeness. That's why I ordered it with my heatsink.

I also ordered the 5G Epoxy for sticking all the extra little heatsinks that I have pretty much everywhere else that doesn't have a heatsink. :icon_tiphat:

Btw, anyone got some tips for applying the stuff? I don't wanna mess anything up. 1:1 ratio I know, but anything else I should be careful of?

Another thing I just thought of!! I removed the IHS on my chip, should I be ok or should I put something around the die? Like mabey a rubber pad or something?

AS5 is the sh*t, no doubt about it!
BTW, I have the same hsf you ordered, silver and green, expensive but worth every penny, keeps my 4200 x2 32 degrees idle, 47 load, and thats going from 2.2 ghz stock to 2.6! with artic silver, of course.
DEAD silent, running 24/7 @ 35% in speedfan (even gaming)

and if you epoxy heatsinks to everything, dont bother pulling them off one day, the mosfets will follow along...

Frankly I would have spent the extra cash and bought a Thermalrigh Ultra-120.

I use either AS5, AS Ceramique, or OCZ Ulta 5+.

Apply a thin layer of TIM on the core by using a credit card; I ususally use toohtpicks.

If you are careful you don't really need to be worried about cracking or chipping your CPU but if you don't want to take any risks you can make a shim using a rubber pad, electric tapes works well too, to put around the CPU's core.

no, you just put a bead (grain of rice) and when you put on your heatsink, you put some pressure, and twist it a little, to spread the paste, no air bubbles! now that I master this technique, my heatsinks are arways stuck to chips, becaus of the airtight seal. twist to pull off...

I also prefer that technique the dope.

And for the 1:1 ratio I don't really know I never applied any epoxy on my chips.

That methode could be tricky on a CPU with no IHS as there is the risk you could chip the core.

Yah its true.
But if you remember the good old chips its was the same thing.

Ooo the AXPs? Yea, ive busted an 1800+ becasue of that technique before.

No, I have a skt754 Sempy, I just took the IHS off because I wanted to void all warranties possible.
